Uh Oh, I don't want a Bogner but this is GAS inducing.

Lukather has always been a monster but based on the Bogner video you posted and these with Ringo's All Star Band, I think he's even upped his game and I think his Bogners sound great.

The 101B still haunts me after years of playing one for awhile. Flaws and all, it's a killer amp!

I played an Ecstasy back in the late 90s, and thought it was an amazing amp. What has kept me for buying one has always been the price tag. We can argue for years on what amps cost, but I just can't seem to get over the $2k hump. However, I do think they sound great.

I actually didn't care for any of the pushed and drive tones he was getting. Sounded too much like a funky pedal or something. The top end was fizzy and pinched. I owned a 101b for a little while in the late 90's and it didn't zound like that at all

Every vid I have heard of the EBMM Luke III sounds amazing! But yeah the amp is killer and Lukes playing is super tasty

Love the Luke!
Guy is an awesome player!
Love the new pickups...have them in my J Custom. Amazing sounding.

Great amp, no question. Would love to own one but really happy with what I have.

:)

Hey Dan. Just grab a 20th Anniv and be done. From what I remember you didn't get along with the Red channel previously. I thought the Red channel on the 20th was fantastic. Easily my favorite tube amp (even over my favorite Mesas).

BTW, I really like his signature EBMM with the passives. Looks and sounds great!

I wouldn't say it was better but definitely more diverse. The Fortin Cali did the Jose thing perfectly. The Bogner does everything from clean to gain which fit my diverse playing across every style. If I had to choose to live with one tube amp for the rest of my life it would be a Bogner XTC 20th Anniv. I hate to call it a "Swiss Army Knife" of amps because it almost implies that it is a jack of all trades. It had great cleans, crunch, high gain and plexi tones that I would consider "King" like. Someday (if it makes sense) I would own another without hesitation.

I like the perspective...simpler setup than he used to have. Zakk did the same. I, as well. I remember 10 years ago having a 5150 stack, BBE maximizer, noise suppresser, eq, big rack...Now, a Splawn, cable, axe, and 3 stomps. Happy and gas free.

You had a 101b and the Fortin sent it packing

Yes I know. For high gain the Fortin modded Marshall I had killed the 101B, but for overall versatility the 101B is/was better.

After listening to Luke a few more times here, I'd still prefer those lead tones tighter than what he has, a pedal would solve that easy.

Put it this way with the modded Fortin Marshalls, they're set on the KILL setting almost no matter how I had it setup. The Fortin had a tightens and attack that the 101B I had couldn't touch. But I didn't have a clean and mid gain tones were just too aggressive for me.

The 20th XTC, I can't stomach that much cash.

Great player and playing but I don't miss my 101B, prefer the 20th Ann personally if I were to get another one.

This was my exact problem as well. Turning the gain down caused the amp to lose its balls (so to speak). It was really difficult to get a crunch tone even with the added Clean channel I had installed. Mike does killer work and loved the main tone. I just need a little more than that.
