macs are great hardware... and you can run macos, windows, or linux/unix. so if you dont like macos you can still slap xp or cista/unix/linux on it.

I switched from Windows to Mac a little over a month ago and I really like it for what I do each day on a computer. My MacBook Pro is very smooth and fairly easy to operate.

Like others have mentioned, Windows is also great for things like gaming and there is a metric ton of software out there.

I only play one game on my Mac, which is a Texas Hold 'em game that is installed in my widgets.

Personally, I could do what I do with both platforms. If I were buying a new desktop, I would probably pick up another Mac because I love iWork and the other programs that come with it. iWork is a lot cheaper than Microsoft Office.

I have limited experience with Vista. My friend has it on his laptop and his machine is very nice.

Even though I am a windows machine guy, if I was not so cheap I would be a mac guy. For a laptop I would go with a mac, their screens are awesome. For Window's desktop machines I usually build them so I can do it for far less than a mac, guess I am just cheap....

quick q about garageband. will it do 48v boost for condenser mics?

lmfao

Yeah, you definitely need a Mac. :D

BTW unless you get the MacBook Pro, your not going to be doing any gaming, the dedicated graphics cant play anything really graphics heavy, I would know. But still the regular macbook is a great machine

  It's funny you need to get all these ridiculous programs and add ons just to run windows programs or games. Just go windows

what ridiculous programs and addons?
you get boot camp, which includes all the windows drivers for the mac hardware, and install windows
(and as code001 said, boot camp comes with the computer)

It's funny how ridiculous Windows is. It's funny cause I start to get aggravated at work using it. It's a good thing that we have Exceed. Fortunately, I'm still able to do all my development on Unix.
