Random question, is there any way to run Power Tab on a Mac?

Yes

Cool, I remember someone told me it wasn't possible. Maybe I'll look into getting a Mac when my awesome $400 Dell needs replaced.

You told me you hated Macs. BTW, they're not cheap computers. Go to http://www.apple.com/store and see the prices for yourself. Apple tends to rape you on hardware prices.

We use Macs in the Journalism School here, and they're huge pieces of shit. I think it's because they're kinda old though.

Um, what? That's built into the OS.

what ridiculous programs and addons?
you get boot camp, which includes all the windows drivers for the mac hardware, and install windows
(and as code001 said, boot camp comes with the computer)

I'm just saying, my girlfriend has a mac and needed windows for classes. She had to get leopard, then get windows for mac and waste a lot of money on both? I don't know just seemed a little ridiculous to me, it was such an expensive laptop and then you just gotta put more into it. Didn't mean to be a dick about it, mac's got good tech support at least.

1. Bootcamp was introduced during Tiger in beta phase. If she bought a computer that had 10.3 from the factory, she wouldn't have an Intel processor in the first place. To say she had to buy 10.5 is bullshit.
2. You're telling me you don't have access to a Windows XP installer anywhere? They're about as abundant as AOL CDs were back in 2000.

To get the most out of a mac you have to embrace the OS. A new mac makes a good windows machine too, but buying one to run windows either most of the time or all of the time isn't really cost effective. The more you buy into (both figuratively and literally) the whole Apple ball of wax, the better the experience is. OS X, iLife, .Mac, Airport, iPods, Apple TV, etc. But that also increases the cost, of course.

People who switch from windows and just spend their time trying to get their mac to behave like a windows machine...just end up frustrated. To get the most of it, you have to kind of let go of your previous windows experiences and start fresh. You will still need to troubleshoot from time to time and that requires a new approach as well. People who switch thinking that they'll never again have a computer problem in their life, also are likely to end up frustrated. Have realistic expectations.

There's a thread over on TGP where somebody was crying about the hdd dying in their Mac. And "I thought MAC doesn't have problems boo hoo" etc. etc. Wrong attitude. Uninformed consumer. Apple uses the same OEM hard drives that everybody else uses, a lot of the same controllers, so on and so forth. For the most part, it's the overall design and again, THE OS, that sets them apart.

So, IMO, Macs are great because of the OS and other software 1st, and the hardware 2nd. I can make XP work for me, and it has obvious advantages in the common enterprise environment, but for a *personal* computer, OSX shits all over XP. And then stomps on it. And then shits on it again. I haven't used Vista yet, but I'd be very surprised if the outcome is any different.

Anyway, that's my .02. I vote for the Mac, as long as you have realistic expectations and want to use the OS, and aren't buying a Macbook Pro just because it looks cool.

I just got a Macbook Pro. I am still kinda lost on it, but learning a little more each time I use it. Alot different than XP. I'll most likely put XP on it at some point so I can play some games.

For video stuff the mac is soooo much easier!!!!!! Very aggravating and time consuming on Windows software. :gethim:

Once i get a new audio fw interface it will be a great recording machine too :)

I was talking with a buddy of mine. He got a cracked version of Mac OS and put it on a laptop. And he said it's great but now what do I do with it? I sort of shrugged because I do everything I need to on it. It just a matter of understanding how it works. I can do stuff so much faster on a Mac. I think if enterprise business switched to it, they'd get a 50% in productivity. That would rev up the economy! :-p

Either way, as I've said before, getting to work and having to use a Windows machine is frustrating because I will I had all the same keyboard shortcuts. I spend a lot of time figuring out which I icon is which in the task bar.

No, I'm just saying the facts that I heard from Mac Genius' at the Mac store (You know, the people who probably know a bit more about macs than you? ;) ). I'm so fucking sick of people with macs having this superiority complex about anything that is related to computers.

Where's the superiority complex? Those facts you heard were wrong, plain and simple. I'm pointing out your BS. I'm not saying one OS is better than the other.
