Tell me about his Rev g and JCM 800 cab

I avoided the GT75 for years, because people told me they sucked. Picked up a stack about a year ago, because they are dirt cheap, and they kick ass with the right amps. Trec into a beat up old Marshall JCM800 was one of my favorite rigs I played through.

If you go that route, open it up and check the screws for the baffle and speakers nuts. I bought both cabs separate, and they both had loose baffle screws, as well as hand loose speaker nuts. Obviously you don't want to crank down on speaker nuts, but these were basically spinning loose. :no:

These 75s sounded awesome !
 
I used to have a whole routine around getting Marshall cabs up to par. I'd ditch the switch because that board fries amps and wire in a regular jack, and rewire it with good wire and solder. I'd tighten all the screws, and seal the gaps between the handles with an electrical tape gasket. I would get the back to fit tighter with electrical tape too. Once you get those cabs hardwired and sealed, they're just as good as any other cab. They get so much more snappy and tighter sounding.

I’ve heard this about my BV cab too
 
I’m more excited about Techie’s new rig which will undoubtedly be showing up within 5 days! If not, Santa is dead to me.

I'm confused. Is it for you or a student of yours?

whoah, is that a ticking timebomb? Same for both JCM800 and JCM900 cabs? :scared:

Especially the earlier 80s 75s, I have heard some of those cabs sound EPIC. I’ve never plugged into and messed around with the newer 75s.
 
1960 cabs are the sound of metal for me.
V30 cabs I've had in the past make everything sound like an AM radio
 
I've been doing the same for my nephew who started playing. Built him a little board and all sorts. Has a heck of a lot more than I ever had already!! A good amp is crucial and is next up. He has something to use now but a decent setup really changes your world. I you want killer speakers, please grab some Avatar AV75s!
