cheapest ones I can find are like 400 bucks ....

more than enough Baltic Birch to build one is maybe 100 bucks ....

maybe it's time to switch gears and quit making pedals ...

Why just Baltic Birch? I’m sure you can sell some on the idea of premium tonewood headshells.

saw mill down the road here could get you any native species wood you want. board feet, not 4x8 sheets. cheaper than fuck.

In all seriousness.... I figured Baltic birch to match the durability of the cabs ....
Are the original headshells of a different wood ?
I figured they used the same as the cabs ....

400 for a head shell is insane. Honestly, if you could make them and sell for 250-275 that is a fair price imo.
Not sure if there is enough profit there to be worthwhile for you?

I was thinking if I could get them down to 300 .... it would be a steal .....

Check out Sourmash, all the head shells are $300 and below. Bob does great work, I’ve had him do 3 cabs and 2 head shells over the years.
Me too. Good cabs and Bob is easy to work with. They are building a 1x12 combo cab for my Lightning build.

I don’t know how much materials add up to but unless you have all the killer tools to make the builds go fast and easy it seems like a lot of hard work for not much money.

Here’s my two Sourmash 2061cx cabs and a custom oversized 2x12🤘🏻

Around here there are usually one or two 1960 cabs on CL for $400–I buy those, sell the 75w Celestions for $50/pop and bingo, $200 empty cab

I bought a JCM 800 headshell bare wood off ebay, like 200 bucks I think? I stained it black and got a plexi logo, handle, and rubber feet and in the end I was all in for 250. I have a 4211 combo chassis that sits in it, upside down.

The seller makes head and combo shells for most amps out there.
