Thought I should post back after last night's teaser. I've been playing the new amp ever since I got home from work. Man, whoever designed this amp did their homework. Just the "clean" channel alone is almost worth the price of addmission. It's that cool. The tone controls have a huge impact on feel and volume. I love all 3 modes.
One thing that surprises me, is the drastic difference in gain structure between the 3 modes of each channel. A lot of people have been saying that every channel and mode sounds pretty much alike. Not True! Each one is noticably different. BTW, for you guys with one on the way, be sure to turn the volume way down before you start pushing those mode buttons
The gain difference between green and orange/red will split you ears if your standing too close to the amp.
Playing the amp for only 3 hours doesn't qualify me as an expert, but here are few observations: First this is the most articulate Marshall I've played. even a crazy gain levels, It will show every mistake you make. I've got some practicing to do
Next, there is no "popping" or delays when switching channels. None. The stock preamp tubes are fairly microphonic. They will be replaced very soon. For reference, I also own a DSL100 and an early 80's JCM 50w combo.
I've got the entire weekend off (for a change), So lots of experimenting to do. Take care.
