I've seen a few articles in the past where guys have shown what a pain in the ass it is to service and repair Mesa Boogie amps, and the circuit board pics and arguments fly around on forums every now and then, but I'm really interested in a Lonestar or Lonestar special. These days, however, I only like to keep amps which I know are built for the long haul and which can be serviced/repaired easily. I don't know how the Lonestar compares to their other models, so anyone who might now, I'd appreciate the shedding of light on this.

Not as bad as a Mark or the other multi channel Mesas.

I owned a Lonestar Classic Head for years and never had a single problem with it. I did a mod called the Reeder Mod (https://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=30857) which essentially brightens up the second channel. The mod is super easy to do and doesn't require any extra parts. The inside of the Lonestar is laid out logically and isn't tricky at all.

Anyone have a gut shot of the Lonestar or Lonestar Special?

This is supposed to be a gutshot of the LSS. Doesn't look bad to me. Opinions?

Mesa's stuff is solid and not a nightmare at all for someone that knows what they're doing. Some of the MK series can be a bit labor intensive, but not a problem for a competent shop. Mesa offers repair thru them that's usually pretty reasonable too.
That video was overly dramatic. Muting circuit issues are fairly common on Mesa's and should have been the first thing he looked at if he had any experience with Mesa amps.
