Mesa dual Rev C at guitar center

While not normal there are rectos out there that have both a chrome face and chrome chassis. Same for black on black but they are more common. Instead of making 500 posts on rectos vs. Whatever amp pops in his head maybe Brent should read up a bit more on those "commonly known" recto facts before he starts lol'ing all over the place.

I thought so too it's so depressing

Considering the amount of work involved buddy must've REALLY wanted a Triple Recto.

Also... considering the amount of work we can see on the outside, I'd be really surprised if the preamp was still stock.

Yeah its butchered more then likely like taking a 57 Chevy and making it a flat bed pickup

Pass. No telling what else has been done and the work is undocumented. The transformers are long gone as well.

I'd look elsewhere. That's no better or worse than a no name marshall bastard build.

I thought that was obvious because it's a chrome chassis and how is that making fun of anyone? I didn't make fun of fordman I'm sorry if he took it that way I just figured it's common knowledge on rig talk a chrome chassis in a headshell not blacked out isn't normal for a rectifier lol. I mean it's in the picture right we can all plainly see that its a chrome chassis lol I'll post a few more pictures.

You may have missed the common knowledge that you could order revision G's with a chrome chassis if you wanted, blacked out or not. I know. I ordered and received one in '98.
Anyhoo...
I do like how the pic they sent of the serial number is illegible. Even though it's been somebody's mad experiment you would have 30 days to return it. Who knows, maybe it got turned into a monster.

Yes I didn't think about that but how many of those special orders would end up at GC for 900 dollars? Also do you still have that amp was it awesome because I feel like it was :)

Damn, that previous owner could've gotten a Rev F/G Triple and reverted it to pre-500 specs and saved time, effort and cash.

Any gut shots? I'd still buy it.

Sorry dude don't see pre500 chrome chassis shoved in a Rev G headshell too often is there any links or anything with more info on this? I dig through Boogie Board quite a bit and don't see this pop up too often. I have seen wierd rectos like that before just don't seem to come across them as often this is a current odd recto on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mesa-Boogie-Dua ... 1e73029916

Also sorry for the lols just trying to keep it light hearted hear because people tend to be a little sensitive about things. I figured knowing the serial number for someone with a Rev C would be enough to know it was a Rev G headshell. However I did not do my research more in depth and posted all pictures with a more accurate description of what I was talking about so everyone could understand.

Lastly I know I post about Rectos a TON especially when i am comparing them to a new amp I come across or ones I have limited experience with. I am just trying new gear all the time any chance I get its become a hobby and really has replaced playing out for me since Youngstown Ohio's music scene is non existent. I am just trying to find the best most inexpensive gear out there and I like to post because its more fun then watching Think You Can Dance with my girlfriend. Hopefully if I reach 500 posts of Dual Rec vs whatever I will have found what I am looking for and you can choose whether or not to read about it.

No Guitar center won't pull it apart fucking bastards lol I want to be done with GC sooo bad one day except for little things like tubes and strings

FrankenRecto is located here if anyone is interested

ill sell you a mint RA100 with extra footswitch dude and road case

There's no reason for GC to pull it apart. You can buy it, and if you don't like what you see you can return it. Their return policy is amazing.

It's not at all clear from the pic in the OP that it's anything other than a Rev G with chrome chassis and polished faceplate. Once we got more pics, now it's clear that it's an earlier amp with some very strange mods.

I used to shop at that store when I lived there. Got my Stiletto from that store. Love that now I've moved across the country I'll always see stuff on the GC Used site from the Stores around Seattle that I wish I could demo

But I did get to try Friedman and some other nice stuff that stores in Seattle would never have.

If this amp was modded by FJA, wouldn't FJA add some sort of marks to it that clearly state it was modded by them?

I've never heard of anyone modding a Dual Recto into a Triple Recto and removing everything that makes it a Rectifier (like removing the tube rectifiers), so I wouldn't touch it. I'm pretty sure this is the same amp that pops up for sale at GC every few months, so if you really do intend to pick it up, at least they have a good return policy, even if their customer service is on par Indian telesales.

As for your posts, I don't think any of us have an issues with helping anyone make an informed decision based on our experiences. I always try to be as welcoming as I can. I only speak for myself, but seeing your VS threads...followed by a THIS IS THE BESTEST MAP EVAR MAYDED...followed by THIS MAP IS THE WORST MAP EVAR...is pretty annoying.

If an amp doesn't sound or feel the way you want it to, don't buy it. There's been plenty of guys that have got a range of great tones from Marks, Rectos and Peaveys...and when we read posts like what you've written about your Mark V, it just shows that you don't know how to use the tools you already have.

Just to be clear, I'm not trying to upset you, just trying to help you understand the way it comes across, and maybe shed some light as to why you may get negative feedback on threads you start. There used to be a forumite that went by "KSEFan" back in the good 'ole days, and every single thread that he posted in became a complete bloodbath...

You guys missed a very rare one here. A Rev. C Dual Rec that was factory wired by MB without the rectifier tubes (who uses them anyway), using the those tube sockets for power tubes and turning into a 150 watt fire breather. This was an absolute steal at twice the price.

^ that's pretty awesome if it was a factory experiment/precursor to the Triple Rec (btw I always use the tube rectifiers with my Triple).

So did someone from Rig Talk snag it up? I couldn't swing it sadly, was looking forward to comparing it with my 2 ch Triple.

But where is the documentation which proves it? Or is this post satire? :scared:

Brent shows lots of enthusiasm & manic gear flip tendencies. I like that in a post.
This frankenrecto is a curious case

Steve probably called Mike B with the serial number and found out the info. It makes sense to me. That conversion is crazy and would have taken a mad scientist who really knew what they were doing.

I wish I would have found this thread a day sooner. I went strait to the GC website and tried to buy it, but was already gone.

Worst case scenario, you have a rev C that has been mangled by some redneck tech. Still worth more than $900. Best case, if Steve is right, this was a factory thought of what was to come later as a triple rec and if that is the case is worth a butt load. Would have loved to grab this, since I could compare it to an actual stock rev C to boot.
