That was a great lead clip! I loved your use of controlled feedback. That is a very cool amp!
Thanks...I'm digging it for a two channel...it's two very nice channels.
I'm not usually a 6L6 kind of guy, but I'm gonna leave this amp as it is for now.

Thanks Danyeo...Does it remind you at all of your Mark IIC+ or is it much different?
I've never owned a Mark series amp so I'm a bit curious.

I never played my old IIC+ on a 1x12 open back so it's hard to compare. I usually used the IIC+ on a Marshall 4x12 with Greenbacks and that setup was Godly. But i have heard MarkIII's on Greenbacks sound as good so i wonder how the Lonestar would sound hooked up to a 4x12 with Greens. But for $1000 used i think the Lonestar kicks ass with it's tone and features. It would probably work out perfect for a classic rock cover band.
I see, combo...good point.
I was going to try placing a V30 inside, but I think the C90 is a good match for this amps voicing. The clean channel sounds like the best Fender amp I've ever heard...I doubt a V30 would sound as nice.....still might try it for the heck of it.

The higher end has that MK type bloom to the notes that I like very much, the low end for some reason I was not digging as much. I like some hair anyways :D
It was gained out...I think it sounds much better running it in more of a Timmons way...use about 60%-70% of the gain and get the rest with a pedal(s).

Wow, that really reminds me of the lonestar special I had. The tone is nice, but there's some kind of hair on the notes that I just didn't dig, even though it wasn't all that gainy....

As you know Im a huge Mesa fan and I agree with you 100%. Although I love the playing and like the tone somewhat, There is a woolyness to the tone that Im not digging.

I would love to See Adam get behind a good MKIV.
Full gain on this amp is pretty wooly. BAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
But backing off the gain a bit gives a really nice wooly tone.

Adam and a Mark IV, anything could happen....don't those have a lot of gain? :D
I dig this amp more than any Mesa I've tried to date. I really thought the Express combo sounded great too.

The craziest thing about that head was when I played it through all kinds of cabinets, it sounded best through the Lonestar 4x10. I hated it through all the boogie 2x12's and 4x12's that were there because thet all sounded like mud. The 4x10 still had good bottom end punch and still cut much better.
I think the Lonestar is voiced to the speakers by Mesa really well.
The high powered C90 speaker sounds great with this 1x12 combo version, and I'm a big low wattage speaker fan.

Sounds nice to me! I'd like a bit more presence, but other than that very cool tone...

Steve
Thanks Steve!
I had the presence set quite low 10:00. Lots of cut on this amp if needed.

Too much gain for him these days

Here is a hint for Adam.... He can turn the gain down on the MKIV lol :D
What turns me off most is the so many damn knobs...pull this, push that, switch that, smack this.... ;)

That's where I ended up with the LSS, too. And I spent a lot of coin on that amp to not be totally thrilled with it. At used prices, it's more of a no-brainer. The clean sounds are awesome on those amps.

I've played the LSS in my local GC a lot and it'd be my next amp if I could afford the damn thing. Channel one with the preamp above half and master maxed, EQ set with treble high and mid and bass almost off is sonic heaven. The lonestar series are almost like NMV amps as their drive character changes radically with changes in the Master volume over 12 O'Clock. People who use it with the master low regularly are really missing out on what the amp can do. They definitely need an attenuator so you can dial it in properly. I would suggest max your mster (or at least over 12 O'Clock) and bring up the preamp to what flavor you need. Plus the less the the preamp is pushed vs. the master the more effective the EQ will be. I prefer the EL84 special over the 6L6 version for it's more "grindy" qualities but both run this way are excellent. I've never been a Boogie fan but these amps I dig.

Just tried the dirty channel setup with less preamp gain, master volume up and hit it with a Maxon OD-9 overdrive pedal.
It likes this pedal very much.

Adam that first clip was REALLY SWEET! Reminds me alot of my Bogner.

Cool...then maybe I can scratch Bogners off my list of 'amps that I want someday'.

You seem to be pretty vague for a computer programmer. :D
I thought programmers were always very precise in their thinking, always liking a yes or no definitive outcome.

Took a pick of some nice sounding rock settings (bottom channel)...in case someone here has one and wants to try it out.

boosting with this for a VH type tone...

this setting sounds almost just like putting a Maxon OD-9 in front on the gain channel...great for solos

Great clip. Excellent sustain and feedback.

I like your settings on both channels, too. I am very surprised at how good the 2nd channel sounds for classic rock type stuff.

I just picked up my LSC from GC yesterday and I like it a lot. I had bought a Roadster and it had some issues, so I exchanged it for a LSC 2x12.

I have an OD-9 as well, so I will try that with both channels.

Great amp!
A couple more tips I picked up...
- Plug a small cable into the loop and turn the loop level up to 3:00, the amp sounds better.
- If you move the speaker jack from the 8 ohm output to the 4 ohm output the amp becomes really smooth sounding.

If you like your delay in the loop....last night I tried a G-Sharp in the loop and it sounded awesome....works perfectly with the loop in the amp.

Yeah, that's a nice tone - very smooth but still sounds gainy enough.
