Mini Egnater Tone Fest in NJ tomorrow!

Don't worry Matt. I dig your Standard. That Modern looks like Charcoal Web in Soft-Touch. I ordered my 3rd Modern about a month ago and went with a Blue Drip finish.

I have to say I've been wondering lately about trying a Mod50. I'm just curious about the difference between the M4/power amp setup vs. the self-contained Mod50.

Phew! Thanks guys now I feel better!

Fazoli that drip is going to be absolutely sick!!!

So you guys are really sending your SL2's to Jeff? Man, that must be a kick ass mod..........

What changes are there to Channel A?? Any different than Channel B?

I'm real curious about this one.............

Yeah man, it's that good. Our SL2s are boxed up and are being shipped out tomorrow. INCOMING JEFF!!!

As Jeff said, Going from the SL2 to the GNR mod: the actual gain/saturation level doesnt change. The change is in the EQ.

It's got tighter lows, much more pronounced, aggressive mids with more "attack", and more bite on top. Whereas the SL2 has a little more compression and smoothness.

The note definition is just sick on the GNR.

Looks like you guys had a blast!
How does the GNR A channel compare to the B Channel?

We really did...Nick and Matt are awesome guys. I need more excuses to go to NJ now ;)

As far as the GNR Channel A...it's less gain than ChB, but has similar tone. With the gain down, you can get some killer Hendrixy / SRV (gritty clean tones) type of vibe with it. But it can also get into the heavier sounding "Black Crowes / AC/DC" type stuff really well!!

It was a unanimous decision that we all liked the GNR more than the SL2. I personally think that the GNR is what the SL2 should have been all along. It fit the bill w/ what I was looking for in a Marshall module BY FAR and away better than anything else I have had or have had modded.

Jeff has a real winner here. Hands down a no-brainer mod for me, Nick, and Matt.

That's the info I was looking for! My only real beef with the SL2 is that the A side has less treble, or isn't as bright as the B side.

Post-mod...you won't have that problem...and both sides will cut through the mix amazingly well! When I was playing drums...Nick / Matt would switch from SL2 -> GnR...and I could easily tell which one was the GNR, as I could hear the note definition so much more behind the kit of the GNR. The SL2 kinda got lost in the mix compared to the GNR.

LOVE IT :)

Eric

Sounds like a fantastic time was had... yeah 4 hours for a bunch of egg-heads is nowhere near enough time.

For the record, both Suhrs look to be quite awesome. Love that reverse headstock on yours, Matt.

I'm really GASing for a Suhr modern and seeing Erics is not helping at all!

Damn, when is teleportation gonna become a reality? I would have loved to have been there to hang out and compare tones.

its probably a combination of things

my Vox and SL seems to sound way better (maybe more classic sounding) with tong sol EL34s than the 5881's using GC Egnater 4x12 v30's

NIck..............don't give up so quick on the EL34's :D

I dont know man, but it certainly seems like the power tubes. The rest of the setup was identical besides power tubes. Same preamps tubes, same cab, same guitar, same players.
