not sure what to think - first thought yeah his fault for not securing them (i mean come one)

then read about everyone saying about his stuff being posted, but he has broken no laws?

Just pissed someone off?

don't post shit in the public domain if you don't want it to be public. Once something is digital and posted in public, its public.

He may make quality products but obviously lacks the whole"internet" intelligence and comes off as a supreme douchebag.

One thing getting glossed over is that, whether you (we) like it or not, a lot of people spend a lot of time on those forums. Quite a few get to be very friendly with Sterling and the main crew. Sterling does do some cool things for the guys on the forums, and treats them well online and in person. It seems that this guy who posted the pics was one of the regulars, and knew Sterling and the rest fairly well. What he did was disrespectful, I'd be pissed too. What he should have done was PM Sterling, say "nice pics of the guitar there on your photobucket, you might want to lock it before someone else finds it."

Or you assume he WANTS them to be public since he posted them publicly??? I know that I am subscribed to quite a few guys Photobucket accounts and get emails whenever they upload photo's to it. That is what Photobucket is DESIGNED for???? It is for people to SHARE pictures.

Sterling ball/Ernie Ball is a FOR PROFIT COMPANY and they are putting up pictures of prototype guitars on photobucket vice thier own protected webspace and then they set the permissions to the pics to PUBLIC, then have the BALLS to complain when the pics are shared and accuse someone who is a longtime customer of breaking into thier account and illegally sharing???....what part of this is absolutely FREEKIN RETARDED does anyone not understand???

You guys are saying that we shouldnt share pictures that are posted publicly on a website specifically for sharing pics??!!!! That EVERYONE subscribed to sterling balls photobucket acct received emails saying that Sterling just posted pics for you to check out...then we are supposed to know that he doesnt want them shared???

You know, I could accept it if it was just joe shmoe who accidently shared a shot that he didnt want poeple to see....but this is a MAJOR guitar company, sharing company info on a public site vice thier own webspace....I just dont understand why they would do this??? Its flat out STUPIDITY!! Even I have my own private webspace that is totally secure where I store all sorts of stuff that I want to be able to access from the web, but dont want every jackwagon on the planet to have simple access to....sorry but this is just absolute HORRIBLE Customer relations on balls part and he is a complete MORON for not having his IT dept setup his own personal webspace for him to share whatever he wants to the guys on his forum vice using something as hap hazard as photobucket for storing pics of a prototype he doesnt want made public....the guy is a MORON as far as the internet is concerned...
 
Bottom line is, the guy knew they were working a teaser thread with a few shots. It's been done a million times over there. He found the rest of the images, and knowing fully well that Sterling or someone else would have posted them later on for a final reveal, he usurped the whole process and posted them. A douche move no matter if they should have been protected or not.

Yeah, im pretty much with everyone on this one. i don't really see Sterling doing anything wrong except maybe a little over reaction.

If you were trying to build up hype for something you were trying to sell, and some random guy blew up your spot, you would be pissed too.

Does he lack internet knowledge or have great PR skills? Obviously not, but that doesn't make the guy a prick.

I mean, you can argue it's in a public domain and someone sniffed out the rest of the pics, which you should know would happen. But that's whats wrong with the internet. Everyone is anonymous on the web and you can act like a complete douchebag without fear of any kind of retribution. That is clearly what this guy did when he went ahead and found and posted these pics. There wasn't any positive goal being achieved by doing that and he knew it. He just posted those pics to be a dick and then acting like he wasn't trying to be.

Is Sterling an asshole? Maybe he is. I don't know. Never met the guy to make a judgement. But your post is certainly not proof either.
 
Sterling may be a prick (I have no opinion on the subject), but rushing over here to post this when it's not uncommon to get upset over something like this is tipping the douchebag meter into the red a little bit...

If you don't have an opinion either way, then why even bother posting that "you don't have an opinion"? You could have just as easily moved on to the next thread. I was never seeking your approval (or anyone else's for that matter) for what I should or should not post here. In fact, by doing something like this you're tipping the douchebag meter off the fuckin' scale...
