He is great but not on the level of Shawn lane or Holdsworth so those comparisons are lame On that note nobody has changed music with guitar playing since cobain. A lot of guys before him but nobody recent in any genre has had that kind of impact Time for someone who is doing something new. Guthrie was pretty revolutionary when he surfaced. Who are the guys around now who will spawn a whole generation of guitarists they influence?

He's 23 give him time.

Tim Henson and Scottie LePage are influencing a large number of young guitarists, as is Ichta Niko...

I love Matteo’s playing and yes he will continue to grow and hopefully write his own music and become a household name.

I’d be curious to see the status of cobain now if he had never killed himself.

no doubt he could write a good song.

Shawn lane Holdsworth and Gambale really take you to the next level practicing. . Jason Richardson is the new kid who does the same . Matteo is incredible yiu . Give him time

.

He's not very inclusive of the first couple frets. Cancellation imminent...

it's just stupid notes played fast, IMO. Big Fucking Deal. When I was 14 I had Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix to inspire me to pick up a guitar. Is there any 14-year-old going to look at this and say “that’s what I wanna do, that’ll get me the girls, $ & everything else“

Page is the greatest. The all time master of feel. When he does one of his bends with vibrato, you actually experience a physical reaction. I remember being young, and introduced to page. my friend was highlighting some epic page moments and inside I felt a sense of urgency and shock simultaneously. Even riffs and chords elicited a similar response. The riff/ breakdown in, in my time of dying, my god, I couldn’t believe the sonic blitzkrieg assaulting my senses. That’s when I realized how truly gnarly zep was. Those drums in that song, dear god, not only the beat he played, but also the thunderous production. The bass tone and playing, I could not believe it. The perfect storm of rock at its absolute gnarliest.

Sure, this kid might be technically brilliant, but there isn’t any feel. Nobody is going to experience an assault on their senses from the greatest heights of bad assery from this kid. If someone is blown away, it’s by his technique and precision.

It's already much better than nothing. I think nobody said he was a superstar or the second coming of Hendrix. He's just an incredible guitarist.

The guy is a fantastic player, hating on him is really quite silly but you certainly don't have to like it.

"Reaction Videos" That in itself tells you all you need to know. In this day and age, it's all been done. Guys with wicked technique are all over YouTube, and that is likely where they'll stay.
The guy at 1:10 in the video, seemingly jizzing his pants over a speedy run, is pretty comical.

Not trying to single you out but…lemme get this straight: your favorite band is Zeppelin that you came to love as a young, impressionable lad many decades ago. And this 23 yo kid isn’t living up to that lofty expectation that Zeppelin laid?

Well I’ll have to agree with you. Nothing in that 6 minute video moved me as much as ‘Levee’ the first time I heard it…at age 13. How dare he not be as good as I thought Zeppelin was when I was 13.

He’s still fucking amazing.

I love guys like this play like aliens . Fresh. And using only fingers gives tone a great attack .

3 to 5 years? .. this thread is literally the first time I have ever heard of him. in that video he sure sounds great running them scales over those fusion tracks, and with his fingers no less ... sadly I didn't see him playing any rhythm at all and if it is him playing the rhythms under what he is soloing over then yeah not my thing at all, so I can't see any reason what so ever to look at anything he has done

i watched the vid and said "this is some of the most amazing playing ive seen", but now i doubt ill watch again :dunno: i hate its like that but its just how it is.

i love his right hand "plucking" style, but his note choice and left hand legato is amazing
