I can’t stand the new trend of “Net to me”

Just tell me what you want, how am I supposed to know what will be net to them. Really off putting.

Here's another one: "if you play this guitar on stage, you're guaranteed to get laid"

„Only used in a smoke and cat free studio“

I mean, who cares? As if an amp keeps the smell like years after the purchase. It’s not a piece of furniture.
All those old Marshalls were used in bars and rehearsal rooms over decades and everyone was smoking.
Cat pee lingers for years if it gets soaked into certain materials. I have iron weights in my basement that still smell like cat pee and I haven't had a cat in this house for 2.5 years, and i think it was a different cat from a couple years before that one that peed on them. And yes, I also haven't gotten rid of the weights.... but that's another discussion 😄

Hahahaha I think that depends on how much of a chain smoker the seller was. I bought a Fulldrive 2 years back, when I was a smoker, that fucking REEKED like stale cigs. I didn’t smoke in my car or my house and the second I ripped the tape on the box open in my car I could smell it. Wiping the thing down there was yellow nicotine stains all over the rag like the dude just blew smoke at the damn thing every time he hauled off a cig.

And guitar cases, goddamn those things can take on an odor. I’m always nervous when i open the case of a used guitar, I never know if it’s going to smell like cigs, cat piss or both. I never plan on selling my own guitars, but I toss a couple sticks of nagchampa in my cases because the scent relaxes me. I miss the smell of 90’s Ibanez hardshell cases, though.
I don't know... I once bought an amp from a guy who had it in his living room where he smoked a lot. My amp literally stank all over my apartment for months. Only a complete retolex helped. And I smoke myself.

I also spent about an hour cleaning the combo from the owner of the golden retrievers. Build-up of hair was everywhere inside the combo, including the speakers.
ok guys, I get it. Maybe I had just luck with my buys so far. I had one amp that was smelling bad from smoking but after I swiped it with a wet rug and one to two days of waiting it went away completely.
If it can be so much of a thing, maybe I will use the term "smoke and animal free" in my future sales ;)

“Smoke free” was a bigger deal years ago. It’s easy to forget just how many people used to smoke cigarettes. An amp that sat in a practice space and was used in bars or something could very possibly stink like an ashtray. But these days relatively few people smoke, especially in their own homes, and bars and venues don’t allow it inside either so it’s maybe a little silly.

I did once buy an amp from a guy on reverb whose wife apparently was VERY FOND of those scented carpet powders you vacuum up, because it smelled like it and there was a thin layer of the powder all on the chassis. I cleaned it all off but when the amp would heat up it still smelled like weird potpourri for months. I think it had just really soaked into the headshell.

"Buy this and you will get laid"

Laid to what? To rest?

"Had a professional repair the finish on the back of the neck but you can't tell - see pics"

Proceeds to post potato cam pics where you literally can't see what was repaired let alone the neck!

:2thumbsup:

"She plays like butter"

Do boomers ever stfu about butter?

If it really did play that smoothly why the fuck are you selling it?

Also, boomers leaving their naked bitch tits or feet in the pictures of the gear.

I can totally hear Space Ghost saying that.

:ROFLMAO:

A JCM/JMP Marshall that is “Completely stock… except for an effects loop that is totally reversible!”

It also bugs me when someone who posts a single fuzzy and dark picture of what looks like a Marshall with an indeterminate number of knobs and all the ad says is “You know what this is!” …. Well no I don’t…
