Movies that don't suck

Watched one the other night and it was pretty good. I feel movie plots have become commoditized and new concepts are illusive, so anything with a different concept interests me. Was called "doubting Thomas". Young white couple (late 20's) pregnant. HIs best friend is black, baby is born black, but wife is saying 100% that it is his. So he starts doing research as to whether or not white folks can have black babies and visa versa.....

interesting concept, not a bad movie.

The River Wild (Netflix) was pretty good. Had a few spots where the Director/scene sequence could have been better but overall, 8/10

(I'm a sucker for movies with rivers in it/wilderness survival/ocean survival/etc)

was it a remake of the kevin bacon / meryl streep movie or something completely different?

"upgrade" on Netflix was cool flick, different concept. Set in future, guy becomes paraplegic, and has an implant put in to give him movement but the implant is AI and has more power than he knew / was aware. I'm not a sci fi / techie kind of guy but movie was good.

Not familiar with the original but a quick Google search tells me they are very similar. More twists and turns at the end than a whitewater r.....never mind.

Sounds like my kind of flick. But don't give away TOO much in your descriptions :D

sorry, didn't feel i was giving away too much. will do better. The original "river wild" with bacon and Streep was good.

do you guys have recommendation for a website or "movie review" type app that makes movie recommendations? I am so tired of sitting down at night flipping through amazon and netflix trying go find something to watch. Most of the offerings out there are crap and I've seen almost everything so a good resource for good flicks would be helpful.

I tried "a good movie to watch" website and their top listing was "short term 12" and that movie was just not good, so they lost my trust.
thanks!
