Right now it has TAD 6L6GC-STR :) I think I read somewhere is the equivalent to the 415?

It sounds awesome as you know 💪🥰🥰
Yes...and that's the recommendation for past years but he did mention reliability issues with them were seemingly more common so that's why he mentioned the 5881 for new production. I've had a supply of the black label Sovteks (most common, new production) for a while so I tried them and they were surprisingly good. Better than Mesa 440s or 430s IMO, and then I ordered/tried the military version (6P3S-E) and they were even better. The TADs you have are probably just fine and sound very good...but I don't know about buying them in the future with the reliability issues I've heard.
Sam (Braintheory) mentioned some other options that sound better than the Sylvania so if you can find some of those, I'd trust his recommendation. But as cheap as the Sovtek 5881/6P3S-E are I'd definitely grab a quad of those while they are still cheap and plentiful.

Man, you got a nice amp there!!!
How was the switch from C+ to C++ installed? Is it a P/P pot on the "mids" frequency knob? And how do the C+ mode sounds after the mod, compared to before the mod?

After Christmas I hope one of you will sell me a 2c+ . Thanks in advance 😊

It sounds better 😁 But Mike did a lot of things to it to make it up to date :)

It is a push pull pot on the middle knob :)

That's true... I forgot you mentioned the amp got a complete servicing.
I keep wondering how mine would sound with the ++ mod, but then I plug it in and I can't justify changing it. Matter of fact, it's one of the very few amps I have that I have not even tried different tubes yet! I'll either get another one already with the ++ mod or another one to send to Mike B for that.
Thanks for the reply.

My C+ SG and III KRG are both ++ modded, and I love it. The mod is a boost that ads aggression and saturation. It makes the amp greasier and more fluid, without sucking lows and adding mids like a boost pedal. With the ++ engaged, I usually back the gain down by two on the knob.

As per Mike B; the difference for the + channel is VERY small and with a small difference is settings it sounds the same as before. And the clean channel aren’t effected by the switchable mod

So the mod is basically just a waste of money??

You’re not getting it right. There is of course a difference between + and ++. And was talking about the +-side before and after the mod.

It will not be the same
Boogie amps (IMO) sound best without drive pedals and/or effects. I favored running a mic to the (Mark IIC+) cabinet, then adding effects via PA or clean amp. My Zinky Mofo was the same way.

Try the ++ sometime. It will prob not disappoint you :)
