NAD: Bogner Snorkler 50

I love this amp so much. I find it is great at hard rock, blues, classic rock and old 90s Metalish stuff. I ran it against my new Naylor sent the Naylor down the road. It can be many things. Has a great master and loop, and through a greenback loaded 4X12 is the shit. I have been wanting to downsize my amp number and this makes it very easy to part with a few.

Super awesome purchase I'm sure it's cool but man, I do have to take it with a grain of salt from someone who thinks the UU wasn't a great amp, Let alone one of the best modern high gain amps available today.

Agreed on all, well said!

A bit noisy for sure. The only marks missed in my opinion was having a built in gate and the ability to get extremely tight like an engl perhaps.

But these are completely different amps I'm guessing for completely different genres. The Snorkler seems pretty cool.

Well it’s a totally different type of amp than the UU. I honestly hated it, but I admit it was very punchy and powerful and probably would’ve kept it if it weren’t for the Rev 1 Uber and Hell Razor (which made the UU sound like it was under water when AB’ed). The Snorkler is warm, rich, organic and chewy, while the UU to me didn’t have an iota of that. It had to me zero warmth or richness, resulting in a really filtered, clinical, cardboard-y sound on all modes/channels (regardless of settings) and a disconneceted/sterile feel despite being so over the top gainy and compressed. I still get the appeal, but it was a big let down for my taste. JMO. I did keep the UU for 2 months when I had it fwiw. Not a bad amp at all, but it pretty much had all the qualities I complain about in recent amps I don’t like. The early Uber’s did that flavor right imo

Yeah for sure. I grew up listening to Facelift so a Snorkler has always been on my bucket list....but the 2c+ reissue is on the way and I gotta get that paid for first.

Yeah definitely a completely different beast. That's one thing I love about Bogner, the range on his amps are like no other company. You can find an amp to fit almost any genre you can imagine

Fwiw the Wizards are the only amp I still gas for over an UU for modern high gainer.

Yes huge range for sure. The Hell Razor is one of my favorites for modern stuff. The Snorkler isn’t modern flavored, so it stands to me in a different lane than those amps

As much as I love the UU sometimes I prefer the red channel of the Pandora

I actually appreciated the UU’s ability to get very tight if needed, but other amps like the Hell Razor and Hermansson when AB’ed were far superior to me for that department and despite it actually getting a lot tighter than my Rev 1 Uber, the Rev 1 Uber actually tracked the fast notes a lot better somehow with more distinction. It was exactly like when I compared the iic+ to the mark 7’s iic+ mode. The 7 sounded tighter, but didn’t track as well somehow

I have a Bogner UU and it is one of my fave high gain amps ever. The Snolker is right up there at the top of the heap for what it does.

My hot take is that the Snorkler sounds better with Greenbacks, Redbacks, and Creambacks. Sure, V30s are cool with it but you really have to watch the upper mids. It can get really harsh really quickly with that speaker.
