NAD Bogner Uber Rev blue 2004 + Clips

So I found this Bogner Uber in Spain and pulled the trigger although I've never played one lol the seller is and old guy who didn't even know what the rev blue thing means . He told me he bought it from a local shop back in 2005 . Now i did my homework and it turns out that based on the serial this is supposed to be an early rev blue version?
symbols = 442 serial?

What does the indicator light look like? Is it small or larger? Also, the circuit board will tell you a bit more.

Thx for the info but I have no idea 😂maybe a small one?
As I said the seller is old and let's just say that he doesn't even know how to take good photos lol this is the other one he sent me

let's hope it arrives here fast and safe!

I would put the Uberschall in the ballpark of a recto (wall of sound) family. They have their own thing going on.

The Rev blue doesn’t have the organic side of the Rev 2, but it’s a cool amp boosted. I love it!

They still are Uberschall’s, just little tweaks here and there. The knobs are a bit more interactive on the Rev Blue. It also cuts better in a mix (band).

Waiting for the new Uber Ultra 150 watts to come in. I guess it should be here in a couple of weeks/months.

Classic high gainer. I would also put it in to the "big wall of sound" category of amps, like Rectos and Diezels.

Tone wise, it is its own thing, but I always describe it as a combination of something like a Recto+jcm 800+Ecstasy red channel mash up. I hear qualities of all 3 in there. While a big sounding amp, it is tighter than a typical recto and can easily do the modern hard rock thing without a boost; although for thrash or death metal you would want to boost it (takes them great!).

I recently sold mine and am patiently awaiting my 100w el-34 Uber Ultra, but if the new Uber didn't come along, I would have held onto mine.
 
I can't wait to have it here and put against the tremoverb and mark iic+!
 
I hate to be that guy, but I can't imagine how an Überschall is like a Rectifier at all other than they're both high gain amps. Rectifiers have that high end sizzle that an Überschall definitely doesn't have, and it's part of what makes a Rectifier what it is. Yeah they both have big thick low end, but the mids and highs are very different. They're both awesome amps but very different IMO.

The closest sounding amp I can think of to an Überschall is the Peavey Ultra Plus.

True. The mids on the earlier Revisions sat lower. My OG Uber might even be just a little more low mid heavy than the Rev D & C Recto’s I’ve had. Still a lot smoother than them, but in its own way achieves a sound that I interpret as similarly brutal and mean

I agree with all of this - the category remark is a good point.

I feel it usually benefits from a HPF pedal upfront. Doesn't really need the boost for level, but that tightening at the start of the chain seems to really help - unless you've got a very tight sounding pickup.
 
My advice for first playing the Uber is understanding how the presence pot works. Also use your ears and not your eyes when turning the knobs. After you find some cool tones try the following: set all tone and presence knobs to 0. Turn the kids up until you like the sound. Then turn up the presence until it sounds good. Next turn the treble up a tiny bit if you want some more high end. Amp should sound great. The amp is kooky and you can’t just turn all knobs to 6 and get a killer sound.

I actually like using a pedal out front. I prefer a pedal WITHOUT a mid bump. I really like the Pepers Dirty tree. YMMV.
