NAD: Hermansson 5GS Marshall

Yeah, I didn't want it to sound negative. I actually really like a Fortin Blade into a 2204.

I guess I'm not sold on all modded amps vs just boosting them.

I have a Monomyth modded 1987x that I love. I haven't owned a normal 1987x to boost but I would love to compare.

The video does sound good.
All the modern Marshall-Style high gainers are not very far apart from a good ole boosted Marshall.

I will say that phone clips don’t really do amps justice- the thing that makes hermanssons special is their super fast response, insane tightness, a lot of harmonic depth, and dynamics- henrics clips on YouTube do them more justice. As insane as it sounds, I haven’t played a stock jcm800, so it’s entirely possible you are right haha.

I like your and Nashvilles clip better than the clips Henric put out.

haha i wouldn't say that but appreciate the sentiment!

Also something my clips don’t capture is that this amp has wizard level punch- it’s pretty unreal in the room

yea i can second this, i have no idea how to convey that punchiness in a video. i'm assuming thats what Henric is capturing with his camera when the lens seems to vibrate?

i suspect whenever Henric launches his own branded line, it will do quite well. He has definitely figured out a way to craft his own sound and its terrific.

Furthermore, i cannot harp on this next point enough...the HellRazor goes from stupidly dark to stupidly bright. The 5GS Hermansson does the same thing with all the switches, you can get really really dark and then if you flip the switch that has the shimmering setting, you will literally blow your ears out with the brightness.

The main point with that statement is that, with the amount of options Henric puts on this amp, you can not only cover every possible musical base, but he is also providing an immensely wide palette to accommodate for different playing styles.

If the larger companies were looking to be innovative in any way vs. just rehashing the same old same old, they'd take a page out of this book imo.

there it is, yehuda beat me to it haha...its just an iphone clip though, nothing fancy at all

i'll try to record something direct when i get it all written etc. That will hopefully give a better idea than just an iphone.

@Bram576 check out the post here if you want to see the details of what i'm moving as i go through the clip

tldr is that preamp gain is set at noon, its a darker setting. i'm just using single coil and then humbucker and clean tones vs distorted tones is just me turning the volume knob on the guitar. pickups are dimarzio area 67 and duncan JB in a strat. using diezel cab with v30s

Mine was a phone clip too lol- they are one of the few metal amps I’d say records as well on a phone vs micced

i trust your opinion on that because you do a lot of vids and have had a lotta killer amps (past and present and probably future hahahaha)

i just don't trust my recording abilities so want to caveat because "a professional, i am not" :hys:

Not far from the truth lol!

I’ve been flipping switches, turning knobs, trying cabs/IRs like a madman over here

It’s definitely got its own thing going on vs what I was thinking.

The best my peanut brain can describe it is Raw and Tight. I need to get some clips together but honestly every time I feel like I’ve got a sound figured out on it, I end up hitting a switch 🤣

Way too many fucking options and they all move the damn needle meaningfully!
@Yehuda and @Nashville Riff Co I have a question to both of you: Both your amps are fully equipped/have all the options, right? What about a "Depth Control"? Does the Amp feature one? How to control the omph?

Punch and tightness knobs, before you get to all the switches

Thanks ;) That's pre-amp, right? Anything that affects the Power Amp?

No clue dude, all I can tell you is when I turn the knobs and flip the switches, the range of tonal possibilities is the widest I have ever experienced.

Anything beyond that, maybe someone else here or Henric himself could share. I genuinely just plug in and play and dont know much about pre/post blah blah blah

Ok, thanks.

Mine has a thump knob on the back which is a depth knob
