You need one more cab so you can do 3 heads on each . I have ocd lol

Nice!!!!!! congrats I used to have a MKIII red stripe and a MarkIV"B", the IV was my favorite Boogie. I really regret selling it
especially now that I have the Splawn, I could've covered basically all of my bases with those 2 heads.

Congrats man - I've had both and I loved them equally for different reasons. The mark iv can be more modern while the mark III red stripe is more raw and in your face

Well I just decided to dive right in and go for the full Mesa Mark experience (minus a real IIC+) LOL Picked up a '91 MKIV and an '87 MKIII red stripe simul-class, long chassis non reverb.

I guess the trannies are not IIC+ related. Can you MK experts chime in if these are still good or not? My understanding was that the early MKIII's still used the same DRG trannies as the MKIIC+

I can't decide which is my favorite of the MKIII or MKIV but sweet jesus as an actual MKIV owner for the first time, this amp just kills. It rivals the Nitro in the low end department no question. The MKIII as well but something about the IV and its more modern voicing. Never would've ever guessed I'd become a Mark freak like this haha! No shame either!!
awesome bro! It's funny how it's always 2c+ and III talk, but the IV is just a fuckin killer amp. When I had mine I had the mark cab with ev's and 90's. perfect cab for that head.

I have 7 cabs already though haha. My studio room is a TIGHT fit. I rotate cabs about once a month.
I once had a stack like your mesas fall on me when drunk band mate hit bumped them . I think that makes me nervous too lmao . My knee when through the front of a Marshall lol

I like my Mark IVb more than the Mark III I used to own, it just has the right frequencies to my ears and it just sounds more "expensive" I guess is the word I'm looking for. Not as piercing in the high end... just a nice smooth top end to it, while the mids are very aggressive. Records way better too.

Thanks! Actually I have an empty Avatar vintage 212 that I was just thinking the other day I should load with C90's. Its one of my favorite speakers of all time. Never tried the EV's with any Mesa. That's on my list of things to try.

ugh, i remember the last time i had a blue stripe III and my current IVa at the same time.
you're gunna go back and forth on which one you like better so many times. if you are forced to keep just one, thats gunna be a tough choice. have fun with that one.

Cool that you could get all those! With Mark V at the bottom, where does the JP2C rank so far vs. III & IV?

Interesting. I have a Mark III simul-class, but my presence control is on the back of the amp. Sorry to go off topic, but where can I find the serial number for my amp?

@MetalThrasher check the back panel of your amp on the right side. You should see a series of numbers imprinted on the backplate.

BTW they put the Presence knob on the front panel of long heads w/o Reverb.
