I wonder if Charvel will now take custom orders for blue and purple burst Jakes since he's now endorsed? Their stance to date has been to not replicate past artist guitars who were not current endorsees.
Yeah, that's be great if they do. Could be they won't so they can release them as production models though..
Would be very cool, I don't think I'd be able to pass up the purple burst if they released a production model around the $2,350 price.

Yeah, it'd be awesome if they did them for sure. I'd like to see the output on the side though...

Here's Jake with the prototype... Looks to me like frets 14-22 are smaller.

Is that a P90 in the bridge ? 3 single coils WTF, Lee always used brdg hummers.

This is the USA Charvel already for sale in Japan and odds are the same one we'll get in the USA. 21 med jumbo frets, thin bridge and pearl white finish.

I hope you're wrong about this. If this Japan only model is a Custom Shop Charvel, why isn't it labeled as such on the nose of the headstock? I'm hoping it's going to have a fixed radius fretboard vs. compound radius. I've owned several 80's era Charvel's, and none of them had a CR fretboard. I don't want an ebony fretboard, so I'm good there.

thats not the one that is his new signature guitar ... that sig has a jb in the bridge. Maybe he was toying with different ideas because it was only a yr or so ago he was playing an LP with p90s so maybe he was thinking that for a guitar...but a jake sig guitar has to have a jb and the sds1's imo

If you go to charvels homepage there is a picture of jake in japan and that guitar doesn't look to have thinner frets up high (hard to tell from a picture of coarse)

Also jake (RDC) is headline a show a NAMM

Sadly I'm not wrong...

Customs shops don't need to say it on the head. I've seen and owned a bunch of Charvel customs without it, it's an option. When I ordered a custom back when they first started taking orders for strat headstock Charvels which was 2006 or so I specified no custom shop logo on the face of the headstock and that's what I got. One of my current customs has the logo and it actually bugs me a bit, no real need for it. I prefer the clean look of just the Charvel logo.

It has a 12-16 compound radius and medium jumbo frets.

Now what I could be wrong about is that the USA Charvels Japan got are not the same as the ones we'll get but that's a bit odd and there would be some pissed off Japanese customers if we got more accurate whitey replicas or something like that and they didn't.

The different size frets thing was only done on the ESP customs because they were shorter 24.75" scale (the Charvels are 25.5" as was the original whitey that started life as a sunburst CBS head 70s strat). Due to the shorter scale on the ESPs Jake wanted more room between the frets for his fingers to fit so they fretted it to the 12th with 6100 and from the 12th -22nd with 6105 and leveled them to the same height but the narrower width of the 6105s up high made playing the shorter scale just a bit easier than it would be with wider 6100s.

I see the Japan model has 21 frets, vs. the USA model is slated to have 22 frets. May have to wait until NAMM for more info. I gave MZ $500.00 down to get on the list. If it has a compound-radius neck, or more than 12" fixed radius - I'm out!

Wow that price is a lot better, now we need some more details. Are these new ones going to have the thin bridge like the Japanese issued ones?

I always like the thick look on Charvels hard tails and how they feel under hand.

I'd be interested in a purple too.

A young Jake E. Lee... RATT era?

Not with an ESP. After Ratt, after Ozzy. Maybe Badlands or Wicked Alliance era.

Definitely either the tail end of Badlands or solo/Wicked Alliance era...that's when he played ESP.

Looks like the USA release is going to be the same model as what's listed here...

I thought it was going to be exactly like the one Jake is currently playing... Wrong!

This pretty much settles it!

The skinny upper frets is a great idea. I so know what he means about feeling just the fret metal up there!

Jake was speaking about the guitar they built him in that video NOT the model that is for sale for the public as his signature model. The one for sale to the public does not have the different size frets, ebony board, 22 frets, high mass hardtail bridge...

It has 21 medium jumbo frets...

All I know is I still really want a DeMartini snake skin guitar

Yeah... That's why I posted the clip. I was hoping it would be identical to Jake's Charvel, but no such luck. :( A cool guitar, just not what I was hoping for. I called the fret sizes right! Don't ever doubt my eye... :D
