Jake's guitar is also 24.75 Gibson scale, and the signature model is normal 25.5 Fender scale. Plus the 3 bent steel saddles on the E, A, D strings and 3 block saddles on the G, B, E strings. But that can easily be changed on your own, obviously.

I'll bet Jake's fretboard isn't compound-radiused either. 12" fixed radius maybe?

Forgot what the exact radius was. But I just noticed the signature model has just one volume, Jake's has a volume and tone. He has locking tuners on it now too. But like Mike McGregor mentioned in the video, it's a basic snapshot of the guitar at one point in time. It's morphed a lot over the years. Still a very cool signature model.

The original "whitey" strat/charvel changed quite a bit over the years. Jake's my favorite guitarist so over the years I've accumulated lots of pics and info on whitey since I always wanted to build a real accurate replica of it. It took years to track down the correct bridge which I finally did. Every replica ever done has had the wrong bridge used on them and my OCD won't let that slide. The saddles on that bridge are also from an entirely different model Fender hardtail, thus why they were chrome and not black. Then as luxxtone had mentioned it had 3 vintage bent saddles and three block saddles during the Badlands era and then eventually had all bent saddles. It's also had 3 sets of tuners counting it's original fender 70s tuners, all of which had different screw locations so the back of the headstock is riddled with extra holes around the tuners. Then there's the headstock shape since it was cut down from a big 70s head it's unlike any other strat and a bit odd actually. The pickup wasn't a JB like most think it was based on the JB but it was a prototype Holdsworth pickup that has two sets of adjustable fillister screws and no slugs. It's also ash, not alder etc etc etc.

I was following the rumors of this sig because it's a guitar I always wanted. I was actually hoping it would be more like 22 fret ebony board version he had been playing, vastly different from whitey and his current sig model. The sig model they released is cool for sure and it's about time they did it yet for me it's too different from the original yet not different enough like the 22 fret ebony board versions to justify buying it. Back to plan A of building a real accurate whitey replica for me.

What's the point of making a signature model that's different from the guitar the artist is actually playing?

+1

I picked up a black letter Charvel water-slide logo from Matt on the Charvel forum. Looking at ordering parts to build one, but I don't know if Musikraft will reverse route the middle and neck pickup cavities. What kind of wood was used for Jake's CS body?

Jake's guitar has a swimming pool route under the pickguard anyway, so you can just get that done if you want and not worry about getting reversed pickup cavities. And the body is ash.
