new clips comparing sl2 and sl2x

just click on the sig and look for it on the list!

BOOOOOYAH! GREAT comparison Steve.

You've answered the prayers of tons of modular folks out there.

That was very helpful ,thanks man .

Both have a wackload of gain

Awesome comparison. I like both of the A channels a lot, but the B of the SL2x I like WAY more than the SL2

wow, great post, thank you- first time I could really hear an 'x' comparison

to be honest

it may sound a little subtle difference on the recording,

but the difference "in the room" is quite dramatic.

i think if you listen to the clips fairly loudly, the differences are easier to discern.

btw

in case you guys care, i have an eg34 headed to rockstarnick for a x'ing as well.

when i get it back i will do something similiar for the eg3/4 vs x comparisons too.

Definitley ,would love the hear the 3/4 X clips when you get the mod back

That was quite insightful, thanks!

It seems to be that the sl2 has enough gain even for metal. The x version sounds just as cool, but not really necessary, perhaps.

i think it has quite a bit of gain.

it can be used for metal but the low end may get a little loose unless you run your density very low.

Think I preferred the straight sl2

honestly i love em both, and i think that they sound different enough to warrant keeping both!

Thanks man, the real test though is in the context of a band. I found that out real quick with the EG3/4X. SL2 and SL2X both cut in a band! EG3/4X I thought sat better in the band than the EG3/4.

With some teaking you can sort of get the SL2X to sound like the SL2. Very close either way. Just more edge on the SL2X.
I don't play metal so that is why I think I prefer the smooth sweetness of the SL2.

Your clips reveal why I prefer the stock SL2.

I do have the SL2X but I have the EG3/4X with one different change. My tube board is a 500pf rather than a 250pf which I would think would be too bright. Stock EG3/4 I did not like for rythm however.

ONe thing about the X mod is that the upper mid bite adds to the tight low end as well, but you can have half the mod done or just the bass tightening for example.

anybody have a suggestion for a quick clips that might be ideal for the eg34x comparisons?

Whitesnake ''Still of the night.

Ozzy Suicide Solution ..

VaN Halen ..Amsterdam main riff.

Comfortably numb solo snippet ..
Really would like to hear the Still of the night riff

I think redo what you played but add in some more lead playing.
