I know this thread is a couple years old, but saw it and had to reply. I actually bought one of the MIC EVH specials and could not be more happy with it. The parts are exactly the same as the US model except the 2ply rather than the 5 ply binding (who cares) and the MIC are flat top where the USA models are arched top. I actually prefer the flat top because the EB Music Man (which I've ALWAYS wanted one) are all flat top. The same compound radius quarter-sawn birdseye maple neck is used (my bird's eye is a beautiful pattern) the same stainless steel (NOT NICKEL!!!) vintage style frets are used, all the same electronics and event the damned square plate jack and the screws used to hold the jack are exactly the same as the US model. After having the guitar professionally set-up, its the best playing guitar I've ever owned - and I've owned a ton of guitars over the years) and the tech that I go to loves it (a true professional tech who used to be the guitar tech for matchbox 20 during their hay-day). I would NOT buy one of the new specials whatsoever, but if you ever happen to run across a MIC EVH Wolfgang, do yourself a favor and pick it up. Remember, the set-up is the key. The tremolo must lay flat against the body to keep proper intonation and that warm tone and sustain. I've seen videos posting the difference in sound between the USA standard and the MIC and the tone wasn't as warm, but if you run across those videos, if you notice very carefully the bridge is NOT set flat against the body for whatever reason, which means it wasn't setup correctly, and that small detail is crucial in the design of the EVH. I've played the MIA standard at a shop nearby and could not tell any difference in sound and tone (except I can't stand the arched top). Stay away from the new MIM and MII models though - not the same beast at all. Anyone who blew an extra grand to have the arched-top model may have a feeling of sour grapes or something, but I can attest as a fact that the MIC's are high quality guitars.
