Well, I guess I'm the only one here that thought it was a good song. lol! I am excited to hear the rest of the album. Nuno being Nuno is never a bad thing. To me, this is a stronger effort than I have hear from several other bands of that era trying to release new material. It's a straight-ahead rock song. Enjoy it for what it is.

I want and will listen to the rest of it...just hope it's a little better than that.

That's true. At least it's better than the new Metallica song.

“Whoawhoaaa” “ooooo” “Ohhhhs” should literally be illegal enforced with long jail sentences at this point.
It does sound a little bit like someone saying "up" with a speech impediment who's into show tunes

I think the solo is awesome and the riffs in the chorus and bridge are cool as well. Unfortunately, the vocals throughout the tune cheese it up quite a bit and the verse & pre chorus riffs feel pretty uninspired. Nuno's playing is killer, though, and it's nice that it actually sounds like a "performance."

I love listening to NUNO . Though he’s has better songs with Rhianna later

Amen

Weird but I think I like listening to the song more than I like the actual song itself, still overall I dig it.

The good for me - I actually like the chorus, generally anything with a descending hook is gonna catch me. Yes a little modern but so what, I don't want to hear retreads of songs from two decades past. The solo is great, and the outro portion perfect. That said, the whole thing barring the outro part is out of context really and somewhat out of key. No doubt intentional IMO.

The bad - mix is really bad, especially during the outro portion of the solo...the bass and drums really needs to be carrying this portion and it's kinda lost. As they are overall. And the first half of the verse vocal section is a direct ripoff of STP. Surprised they went that far with it because if you're an STP fan, it's like wtf.

Good to see these guys back and still swinging though.

I called it dated sounding in my first post and you are calling it modern so now I have to ask, what about this sounds modern? It sounds like an 80s band that finally heard STP in 1996 and is now trying to jump on the grunge bandwagon which they already missed

I think I agree. The song reminded me of Nuno's early 2000's solo album with the big predictable choruses. I don't think this one had that funk meets pop meets hard rock that even some of the last album did. It doesn't really have an Extreme sound. It has a vanilla new age band sound. Also yeah, production is lacking. Generally Nuno also has solos that tell a story and this time he just rips. Cool and all but I think it's a bit unfocused and could have been better of i had been there to give them tips 😀
You hit the nail on the head

I’ve been listening to this song again because there’s something about it I couldn’t put my finger on that just bugs me. Sure, the vocals in the chorus are not great, and sure, there’s really not a lot of inspiration behind the stock ass rifts, but it’s more than that.

It’s the mix. The song is completely uninspiring because it’s mixed like elevator music. The drums totally lack even the slightest amount of punch or size whatsoever, they sound very small. The guitars are totally neutered, they sound like the mixing console’s treble knob was turned almost fully counterclockwise. If you’re going to record a song like this, the guitars need at least a little bit of snarl and sizzle to them, and the worst part is that you can tell the guitars had that behind the microphone but were deadened and muted in post. The vocals, which are clearly not supposed to be the most important element of the song, are pushed way too far out front. The whole thing just lacks any bite.

I was probably too hard on the song at first, which I posted about earlier in the thread. I’ve listened to it a few more times and I think that most of my criticism about the writing is fair but not enough to get mad about. But I think the main source of that criticism seems to stem from the song being boring and uninspiring, which is honestly probably due to just how terribly the track was mixed.

Whoever mixed this track completely, utterly failed at their job.

I will say that listening to it a few times now, it has grown on me a bit but I still stand by what I said previously. It really is vanilla. I think I just appreciate nuno ripping even though it doesn't fit the song. Drums i actually liked. The drummer has a great sense of groove and I thought the drums sounded like drums, especially the ringy snare. That said, I could totally tell it was samples. Hoping the rest of the album sounds like Extreme.

This is new age mixing. Samples, time align, digital squish because it has to be LOUDER!!!!

I think it's the opposite. It sounds like it was mixed not to sound loud, but to sound totally bland and inoffensive.

Honestly this is probably not going to be a popular opinion, but I'm ok with time alignment. Auto tune is really pushing it, meaning if you can tell it's there at all it's way too much. But if it's subtly used to correct a flubbed note or cranked up and used as an obvious effect, it's fine with me. Personally I don't give a shit about "musical integrity" or whatever. Music is aesthetic. All I care about is whether the stuff coming out of my speakers sounds good and makes me want to move, and whatever it takes to achieve that is fine with me.

I mean sure I also care about great musicianship but it's almost a separate area of interest. Like sure I love hearing genuinely great players rip it up on their chosen instruments through great pieces of music. I am a guitar player after all. But if I want to just chill and listen to something? None of that shit necessarily matters.

However, in all cases, neutered mixing with absolutely zero edge or bite, or any liveliness whatsoever, is inexcusable.
