Sell my Peavey XXX 120 watt head. Get my Peavey Triumph 60 combo recapped and retubed. Rearrange my studio/office so it makes more sense. Get my drums put back together...I put new wrap on the shells so it's a big job to reassemble 10 drums. Practice/play more. Record music that I write.
Experiment with different pickups in my guitars...Lord knows I have a lot of pickups, but I need one for my Ibanez AS73 neck slot....speaking of the AS73, I need to learn to extract and replace pickups and electronics in a ES335 style guitar...on the other hand, I might just make a hole in the back of the guitar and make a plate to cover that hole. That way it'd be a lot easier to rewire. I'm sure I'll think of more stuff to do. Steady on we go!

Love the XXX (v1, at least). If you have some string/fishing wire you can route it into the pot holes and out of the f holes/pickup (not sure if the AS73 is semi) with a handle attached and tie to pots, pull them through after soldering. Pretty easy, especially if you have some long/jewelers needle nose. I like to see that so many of us are trying to focus more on playing/recording, but you just know there will be a C++ reissue announced at some point next year and that will go out the window for half the forum:ROFLMAO:

Definitely more playing and less drooling.

Wizard Amplification is not helping though  and neither is Mesa or anyone else for that matter.

Jazz IIIs ftw

Rick at Wizard is the least helpful when it comes to eliminating GAS

I’m dreading seeing his next release as I always do :hys:…money tends to grow wings despite my best efforts

Yeah, the AS73 is a semi. It belonged to a good friend of mine who passed away a few years back. His wife gave me all his musical gear. Haven't touched that guitar since I got it but I decided that it's gonna be my only 24.75" scale instrument. After all, Alex Lifeson (among other giants) got some ripping tones with their 335's. It plays great and it's a really loud acoustically.

I had a stroke awhile back and have been hesitant to work on my guitars, but the AS73 is beckoning me...if I think I can do the work myself then I'll give it a shot. If not, a local buddy of mine does great work and he always gives me a huge discount on his normal fees.

Speaking of picks, this might be the year I work on learning to play with one. My right hand sounds better to me than any pick I've tried so far. Having something between my hand and the strings feels alien to me, though. I need one that has a very sharp and bright attack. I sound like mud with the Tortex picks.

My XXX is first version. Great amp, just not for me.

Glad to hear you're working through it and sticking with your passion!
Sorry I was such a bitch earlier this year. I tend to do that sometimes.
I hope you have a great New Years and get yourself back on top in the coming year!

I start out with good intentions every year, and end spending way too much on gear. I think the only piece of gear I'm going to save up for this year, is the Fryette ZMACS. It's going to take a while to dig out of the Christmas hole though.

Thanks! My left hand sometimes has tremors when I try to play, but I'm gonna push through that as best I can.

I was an asshole to you. I apologize.

I appreciate the kind wishes. I hope 2025 is a great year for you!

I'm hoping to finally make up my mind on passive pickups for my Charvel model 5fx, get the wiring checked out on my 98 Gibson Les Paul Special P100 neck & Dimarzio P90 Super Distortion bridge, replace the 500k push/pull volume pot in my Partscaster with the Mojotone 250k volume pot I bought - has a Seymour Duncan JB Trembucker in the bridge, Squier Strat body and Jackson style neck. And possibly get a Friedman guitar amp and maybe sell some of my high gain amps towards said Friedman amps.

No worries on your part, I seriously just let too many issues put stress on me.
Especially stupid stuff that doesn't matter and let that get to me.
Moving on from that and truly pray you will find yourself in happiness.

I know this is a gear revolved thread, but I feel like my resolution is to not take on problems I have no control over.
Or at least not take them personal. Rock on!

My big resolution is to finish selling off my pedalboard and building my new FM9 board.

I have a few guitars needing TLC that have been on the back burner for too long. My dream Strat remains unfinished after over two years. That's a top priority.

I have a feeling I'll pick up a Gibson this year, most likely a white 70s Explorer.

Lisa - love this thread and your advice

Sorry about your stroke and the loss of your good friend. Play his gear with pride. That's what he would want you to do right? And I know what you mean about the plastic between the fingers and strings thing. When I first started I could only play with my fingers. The vinyl pick was blocking my connection to the guitar.

I sold off a pile of really nice gear this year and really simplified it to the tone that I like most.
I have GAS for one more guitar but I am trying to resist with very little willpower......:p

I'm down to only 4 guitars that I rotate through live and really, really enjoy using all of them.

I mean....it would only be 1 more guitar..........but it is the one I have wanted for the past 10 years. Finally found one.

Other than that, strings and picks only for this year. I truly need nothing else.
