Lisa - love this thread and your advice

Sorry about your stroke and the loss of your good friend. Play his gear with pride. That's what he would want you to do right? And I know what you mean about the plastic between the fingers and strings thing. When I first started I could only play with my fingers. The vinyl pick was blocking my connection to the guitar.

Thanks, man!

I need a Strat copy or another superstrat, too. I have some extra pickups, so I need at least one more guitar to put them in.

That makes sense, right?

my two year sell-off and buying spree is nearly at an end. One more guitar on my list; a bass that's on order but backordered...never say never, I'll see what NAMM brings. But I'm to being out of space...so something(s) will need to go before more comes in.

Other than that, I'm waiting for the next generation keyboard workstations, guessing (and hoping) it will be another 2-3 years; I just purchased my current generation workstation earlier this year.

...now the way the market has been going since mid-December my retirement may be delayed again.

Market down?
Global conflict up?
I like NOC or LMT @<$420, GD @<$250, and RTX or LDOS@<$115.
Do your due and all that jazz. Not an endorsement or advice.

many days like this over the last two weeks, especially the Dow and NASDAQ:

Tomorrow the markets close at 2 PM Eastern, and I'll figure out the year end on New Year's Day; and my actuals for the month of December.

I'm up for the year, but the last two weeks of the year were not pleasant.

Looking at lower gain amps for a side project has kind of had me revisiting one of my first loves. I always avoided the soapbox because of the high gain squeals and I hate running a gate.

Doctor, this High Gain patient is quickly flatlining to lower gain status! What should we do?
Inject Kyle’s 5 boost pedalboard into someone’s Hellrazor, stat! See if that revives him!

I have two projects that have been hanging over me for a while that I should tackle and finish up:

I have a studio space and equipment and want to record. I can handle guitar and bass (and vocals, if I feel brave enough to handle leads for the first time in my life!), but drums are beyond my ability, and figuring out how to handle those has literally held me up for several years. It's dumb. I just need to start messing with things and get it figured out.

I have a big rack system 90% built that I've never quite completed and tidied up. It'll just set in my studio and be fun - basically the big ass rack system I would have loved playing back in the day, but couldn't afford at that time. Am really tempted to add the new Soldano preamp to it though...

Other than that, I really need to get rid of stuff. I have some equipment around that hasn't been used since last millennium, so I think I can probably safely move it at this point! lol

This is the way.

The regular jazz iiis are way, way, way too small for my hands/fingers

I like the regular sized extra grippy jazz iii’s when I’m just playing/recording material at home but for shows I use the XL’s that are a little more thin, 73mm (standard yellow Dunlop pick thickness). I just play way too hard live to use the regular, I would shred my fingers to bits.

I think this year I'm going to concentrate on playing better/more. I've really lost touch with that aspect of my life. I've got some stuff for sale locally, but I'm not in a hurry to get rid of it. If it sells, fine. If it doesn't, well then that's alright too. I don't really see myself buying much in 2025 though. I've got my eye on a couple of things that have been on the radar, but I have bigger fish to fry at the moment. Of course, targets of opportunity are always on the table.
Same here!
