Hey Mark, what brand of strings do you use for you 13-60's? Custom sets? Hybrid cobbled together sets?

I usually just buy individual strings and put together a set that works for me. I use 13 17 26 36 46 60 for short scale guitars, which I don't believe anyone makes a set like that. I like Dean Markley strings, but I'm no too picky.

Everly makes a set that is 11, 15, 22p, 38, 52, 60 if you want something a little slinkier on the top.

No way could I use the 11, 15, and 22 part of that set. Way too thin for my tastes.

Call up SIT or DR, they'll wind you and package you custom sets for a really good price. SIT is a good company to work with, if you ask me. Strings last a good long while, and I have really acidic sweat.

Not to mention, I just looked, it's actually 12, 16, 22, 38, 52, 60...close but no cigar, eh?

So what makes this guitar different from, say a Jackson soloist or ESP Mirage?

It's a totally different brand of guitar.

But why not just get a cheaper Jackson or something? What does this guitar do or have that a SL2H lacks?

It's just a matter of what you like better. I personally don't like Jackson guitars at all. Caparison's have mahogany bodies, bolt on necks which I prefer, clock inlays, cooler headstock, finishes I like better, thicker necks, they play better, they have original pickups that I love, etc.

you make good choice daniel son

i think you should keep this one mark, its pretty cool.

We've already spoken Mark....you know what's up. :)

The Caparison stuff sounds better for what I do, than Jackson stuff. Additionally, the Caparison stuff is consistent across the board concerning build quality, whereas Jackson makes mistakes on multi thousand dollar Custom orders that people wait 2 years for. I don't trust Jackson's QC, and they don't sound as good to boot.

This is probably the one thing that has really troubled me about Jackson. If people are putting down 3k on a custom instrument they should be getting exactly what they want and there should be no surprises when the instrument arrives at their doorstep. People getting the wrong finishes, woods or just straight up improper designs is bull shit. If the Jackson CS shop doesn't understand the order or can't do what's on the order, the response shouldn't be that they change the options to something more doable.. The response should be contacting the person that ordered the guitar, apologizing and offering either a full refund or the option to change the design / options of the guitar. I remember something where some dude got yanked around for like 3 or 4 months only to find out that they weren't offering the baritone style in the bodyshape he wanted.

Just a while ago someone posted a Jackson V for sale here in the guitars for sale forum where Jackson gave him the completely wrong finish. Looked absolutely nothing like what he ordered.

Most (if not all) Jacksons are Alder/Basswood, even the SL2H. Caparison puts out Mahogany guitars, which gives you more bang for your buck. I wouldn't buy a SL2H because of the expense of it and it's only Alder.. That and the QC of Jacksons are somewhat sub-par now

Why the fuck would I ever want to buy a guitar from a company who pulls shit like that? :hys:

He got as bargain...a special finish far better than the stock one ;)

That Caparison is nice...miss the clocks funnily enough but gonna go a long way to beet the Gutierrez (sp?) Juggernaut and someone else on here have..albeit not maple :D

Jackson actually made an SL2H with a Mahogany body called the SL2H-MAH.

Boring looking guitar IMO, plus it's over $2000 new.

Good point.

2 questions:
How does the walnut guitar sound?
Is the girlie in your avatar "pleasuring herself" with her right hand?

It sounds kinda like mahogany only a bit clearer and tighter. The guitar is designed for low tunings, so it works real well for that.

And I have no idea if she's touching herself...she could be. :D

I don't know if I'd call it "boring"

Even if you don't like Jacksons, I don't see what makes it "boring".
