NGD: I bought a damn Schecter and I'm not even ashamed!

I bought a new one of these a few months ago but the shop sent me a used one where the setup was all out of whack and had scratches all over so I sent it back. I'd been wanting one for a while, maybe I'll just order one from dcgl or something so it's not totally jacked lol.

What, in your opinion, makes them above Edwards? I ditched a Gibson a few years back cause my Edwards ES was the better guitar overall.

Wood quality. Edwards are Chinese woods with Japanese fit and finish. I find schecters are just heftier and sound better IMO. Yes I’ve owned both. Both play great so it’s a toss up there.

So schecter is sourcing higher quality wood? The pricing suggests to me the wood quality is likely on the same level as Edwards. And tbh I doubt anyone could tell the difference between a cheaper Mahogany LP and a real Gibson in a blind test if the pickups were the same.

IME schecters have one of the best factory QCs of any guitar company - Edwards are great with QC as well, but the materials are what makes the difference, i think

I had a black limba hardtail when they first came out. The Wenge neck was smooth as silk. The stainless jumbo frets were as well. Sounded good too.

My issue was the narrower nut width and neck size. Not enough shoulder for me and it made my hand cramp when chording. Surprisingly heavy too. Great guitar though if those specs work for you.

man, I look at this guitar and go sick… until, I see the headstock. Instantly kills my boner. Schecters play nice though.
Well at least you got a boner for a sec…

congrats on the guitar, looks nice. I'm a huge fan of Schecter.

Thanks! Killer track by the way! Going to catch Abbath here in Vegas with Danzig.

Coincidentally I’ve been listening to Battles of the North for the past week.

I’d totally rock that guitar. Single bridge HB/single volume control would’ve been better a better choice.
Yeah that would have been a killer format for sure. I think a neck pickup helps sell easier maybe?

The wife and I were rocking Pure Holocaust on the way home from work tonight.

killer guitar and sound. Glad you like it. I got my first Schecter in '24 and look to acquire more. A lot of guitar for the $

What store?

Man I LOVE the Arrow’s. Been wanting an E-II one.
I wish I had bought one a couple years ago. Their was an LTD 1000 violet andromeda on sale, at of all places Amazon, and it was half the price of one now. I kick myself for not grabbing it, as I rarely see that color now. The E-II are sweet, I wish they came in that color as well. I only see it now on the ESP Original model.

ooof

Hey it's Abbath so it's all good ...... I've never even touched a Schecter, but aren't they very well made?? I can't get passed the # a side headstocks on Strats and V's .... that's just wrong on every level

I won't buy anything from those fuckers unless they finally decide to give their V-1 shape some space in their catalog. Same goes for the tempest. They are friggin C-1/superstrats obsessed.

Oh and yeah, they just won't use alder wood in basically 90% of their production, which is a shame.

Nice guitar man! I have to ask, why would you be ashamed of buying a schecter? I've heard they are really good for the money, and as long as you can give it a good setup and it plays well I wouldn't worry what brand or model you are buying as long as you like it :)

I'm also obsessed with the V-1 shape @Zado

I've been looking for a burgundy or black one forever on the used market lol

Oh I was just taking the piss, as they say. I love Schecter stuff. 90% of my guitars are custom builds.

The V-1 and E-1 shapes are killer for sure.
