-In 2009, H1N1 killed 12,000 U.S. residents.
-Obama’s response was incompetent.

Hmmm, so 12,000 deaths appears to be the baseline metric for incompetence in 2020? Or, maybe the baseline for competence--who knows? Time will tell.

IF COVID19 = H1N1;
AND the case-fatality rate for COVID19 is ~1% (as reported by the CDC);
THEN COVID19 deaths = 600,000;

IF 12,000 = Incompetence;
THEN 600,000 = Incompetence x 50.

Ya that’s a whole nother story. Sorry dude. I’m not saying this virus isn’t bad. They are saying it’s mutating and probably getting worse. I don’t take it lightly at all. I’m self isolating because I don’t want this shit either.

I'm isolating because I have been exposed It only took a week to be notified.

It’s likely almost everyone has been exposed or will be. We can’t stay in a bubble till it ends. Did you get tested? Do you feel symptoms? Not everyone is feeling it but is still infected.

I was in a meeting on 3/16 with someone that visibly did not look well and subsequently tested positive. WTF? Notified a week later, no symptoms or need for testing. I'm more concerned about family members that are high risk than myself. Will be working from home for a while. I'm so bored I actually miss sitting in rush hour traffic

The virus came from China. You are lucky your president stopped the China travel when he did. Look at Italy, they did nothing, in fact, in protest of your president's travel ban, they initiated a "hug a Chinese" campaign. I bet they wish they could have changed that now to a wave instead (at least six feet away). The prime minister here in the U.K. has the virus now, I don't blame it on him, partly China and our previous leaders who would have initiated the same "hug a Chinese" campaign. Sometimes hurting feelings is necessary to save lives.

Point taken, H1N1 derived from pigs hence Swine Flu, I would use a harsher term for China but we'll leave it at the Chinese Flu (why do so many diseases come from China anyway?). You are right about DeSantis but what would most of the Americans say if he decided to shut down all the beaches during that period? They would call him a "Trump Dictator" or whatever. They would cry, "how could you do this to all our children when they deserve a spring break after all the hard work they have done?" You can't win in that situation. He should have shut it down though, I agree. I'm not sure the guy he beat for governor would have done any better, he would have probably endorsed going to bath houses with less than six inch distancing. That guy is a real winner, and he was supposed to be the next 0bama?

As a Florida resident I’ve witnessed some of the most reckless behavior in midst of this pandemic I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m in Ft. Lauderdale (Broward, for the unaware) and the residents seem hell-bent on trying to top NYC. Going to the grocery store is like trying to run to the field goal without being tackled because no one gives a flying fuck about how close they are to other people, no one is wearing gloves (which are still available around here, if anything buy some fucking dish gloves for Christ sakes) kids are running around touching everything, people picking up produce, inspecting it and putting it back down like nothin’ going on. I drove to my dad’s last week to drop off some supplies and on the way saw 4 different people push the crosswalk button then immediately hit their vape or light a cigarette.

Those beaches should have been closed immediately. They’re already patrolled at night time so people aren’t out there partying, it’s not like it’d be some martial law-like shutdown. Each day that passes is one day Broward county’s residents are just asking for increased law enforcement. We’re in a shut-down now and it still doesn’t matter. I’ve read that it will be enforced by law enforcement, but have yet to see or hear of it happening.

When we went to essential-only business the fucking vape stores were still open. The overwhelming majority has not taken this seriously at all.
