As a Florida resident I’ve witnessed some of the most reckless behavior in midst of this pandemic I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m in Ft. Lauderdale (Broward, for the unaware) and the residents seem hell-bent on trying to top NYC. .

That may be hard to top. Here's a bunch of gawkers looking to get a view of a ship--that they will probably be on in the next 7-14 days....

Point taken, H1N1 derived from pigs hence Swine Flu, I would use a harsher term for China but we'll leave it at the Chinese Flu (why do so many diseases come from China anyway?)

and this Flu comes from Bats so by your logic it should be call BatFlu?

Yes, Bat Flu, good idea, wouldn't want to hurt those Communist Chinese Feelings.

You are lucky your president stopped the China travel when he did. Look at Italy, they did nothing, in fact, in protest of your president's travel ban, they initiated a "hug a Chinese" campaign. I bet they wish they could have changed that now to a wave instead (at least six feet away).

The prime minister here in the U.K. has the virus now, I don't blame it on him, partly China and our previous leaders who would have initiated the same "hug a Chinese" campaign.

Monkey Man from me to you.

I hope that I do have a Ethernet friend in you. I try not to use cliché as it usually indicates (to me) educating people with annoying excess rather than precision. Just my little fermented mental thing, that's all.

I want to thank you for your kind words, and I'll simply say thank you from one human being to another. :)
Flattery will get you everywhere, but nevertheless, I'm honoured and humbled that someone... anyone appreciates my M.O., GB, for it was forged-in-fire, so to speak.

I've always contended that if one's suffered sufficiently, he'll reach a point at which he'll no longer allow himself to instigate or partake in the suffering of others. Unfortunately most bow out long before that point and react in-kind, using their suffering as an excuse for bitterness, antagonism, or indeed much-worse, as evidenced by defence testimonies in courts of law.

I digress, of course; sorry mate. I was simply trying to articulate how much I appreciate a compliment directed my way; it invariably makes my day, man. Thank you!

Very well my friend, MM. I want to in addition thank you for allowing me to temporarily enter into your mind.

Now. WWII (???) million of my fellow Jewish people were slaughtered (genocide) and looked upon as diseased, infected, subhuman, rodent-meat by the SS and the camps in relatively and proportionately short time. Very possibly this may be why us Jews find tragedy(ies) more or less a statistic for us. We laugh a lot when it may seem inappropriate. It's not because we're insane, just a bit complacent and always a skeptic (we always have options this way) for reasons. Trust that we don't find any time for gloating, that would be cruel, and unusual punishment.

My MM friend, in the name of a very good motion picture actor (however intellectually inept) Mr. Robert De Niro;

"I got 2 wuerds for ya . . ."

WHATEVER SURE, NEVER LET A GOOD FUCKING CRISIS GO TO WASTE I WANT MY FUCKIN MONEY -- NOW!!!

Can someone please explain to me how China, with billions of people was supposedly able to keep this Wuhan Virus contained to only ~ 80,000 infected and ~ 3200 deaths with ~75000 recovered?

If ever there existed a Divine Intervention this is truely it for China!

I mean we all believe this right? It makes all the sense in the world...

Meanwhile they didn’t warn the world and travelled all over the globe! And the World Health Organization (WHO) told the rest of the world not to worry. No evidence of human to human transmission.

The rest is history folks. The perfect Hollywood blockbuster mega movie coming to a real life kick in the ass near you!
Because 1) the media is controlled by the government 2) the already said that previous testing numbers only included symptomatic people.

Many think the real numbers are closure 42,000+ deaths in Wuhan https://apple.news/AUNKYgIZZTaeUfbnjSRoqAA

There is no evidence of human to human transmission. Those were their words.

At the beginning of Feb China peaked around 80k. It does not take a fucking genius to determine "human to human transmission" is a thing. We did not do shit until a month, and a half later.
Do you really think the US did not have people watching this, and advising the president?

Also, man I really don't give two shits about, Pelosi, Russia, Impeachment, or any of the normal talking points. You can toss those in if it makes you feel better, but I have no desire to read that.

I've never gone around bashing the POTUS, but this is something he dropped the ball on, and I hope he learns from it. Did he create this no, could he acted sooner, and mitigated the damages YES.
There will co to use to be finger pointing on this. There simply isn’t a manual for how to deal with these types of things. As much as everyone wants to ignore it, you still have to steal the economy and try to balance economy, control panic, etc. People this weekend still do t get it and are crowding at parks, having parties, going to beaches.

Ultimately, China has lied about numbers, lied about controlling it, and even after SARS and MERS and other animal born diseases, the continue to neglect basic agricultural, food, and livestock regulations that have been adopted by most modern countries last century. And yet we will go spending all of our money on cheap Chinese products to make a quick buck. We will learn nothing from this.

Me and my bride had a sense it might be this little critter. Maybe, maybe not? Clever Chinese Mofos.

2. There have been 23,000 US deaths so far this year due to flu - 3,000 deaths from coronavirus.

Worldwide stats are roughly in parallel. Legitimate population samples and common sense show that the virus has infected way more people than reported by the immoral news organizations that make money off this hysteria. It is highly likely that REAL death rates are closer to .05 percent rather than the oft-emphasized 3 percent.

You are comparing a virus that has that many deaths with unmitigated social efforts to a disease that will best case be 4-8 times that with most of us on lockdown. The projections are 2.2million unmitigated. Do you think the professionals are wrong? Do you thing the amount of people on ARDS in NYC are crisis actors?

Ok, then get out there, and start licking doorknobs on video to prove this is all a hoax ;)
WTF is wrong with you? 1. No one is saying COVID-19 a hoax. 2. I've already had it.
youre assuming you had it, or you’re confirmed to have had it?

Geez, to say or imply that Trump handled this optimally is insane. He clearly screwed up early on. Not saying I could have done better or saying what he should have done instead, but he clearly screwed up by not taking this seriously enough. That is pretty much fact. We all know this is unprecendented and there is no Instruction Manual for how to deal with it. Trump can still do many things that will overshadow his aloof impression of this crisis early on. It was probably coming here (or already here) no matter what he did but that doesn't absolve him of making a mistake. Nobody is perfect, I can forgive an honest mistake. Just learn from it and move on.

Spanish Flu...Nile River virus...some of these diseases do retain their origin in the name and imo that is the best way to remember them. Coronavirus/COVID is too broad and adding a -19 to it makes it easy to confuse with some other COVID. I don't think any differently about the Nile River basin or anything 'Spanish' just because there is a disease named after them, it's not like it's a scarlett letter or something.

And just some perspective, per the latest numbers I've seen this morning, ~189,000 cases in US and total population is 327.2M. So if my cipherin' is right that's about 0.058% of people in the US that have it...or less than 6 in 10,000. I don't know anyone that has (or has had) it and on Facetime with the whole fam last night, neither did any of them. Yes, I know lots of people haven't been tested.

It's a fact, but it's not surprising. The electorate made it clear in 2016 they wanted someone with no political or public governing experience, no demonstrated executive leadership skills, and someone that was going to torpedo the federal government infrastructure as it pertains to public health.

Chickens...come home to roost.
