He's amazing...but difficult to work with and a bit full of himself. Funny Yngwie gets slaughtered for being an ego maniac and Nuno gets a pass apparently...

I think that one of the differences is that Nuno doesn't talk shit on other players... Yngwie does. He might be right, but he doesn't have the restraint(or care) to keep his opinions to himself.

For example, a concert was just announced that Exreme would be opening up for Poison and Extreme's fans went ape shit and started saying that Extreme is so much "better" than Poison. Nuno immediately posted on Facebook that he doesn't get the Poison hate. He said that Poison had more hits and sold more albums than Extreme. He also stated that he has played shows with Poison before and said that they absolutely bring a great live party on stage.
I saw that FB post about Poison, and he WAS cool to do that...but he is not the greatest guy to his own fans or really at all humble about his own success. I've met him many, many times and know many people who know/have worked with him and they all say the same thing. Now, having said all that, he is THE DRY-EST, MOST SARCASTIC person I've ever met, so MAYBE some of his BS is tongue in cheek, but I doubt it...FWIW

for sure... while he is one of my biggest influences, I don't think I'd ever want to meet him. I don't want to ruin it knowing my hero is a jerk to fans.

BTW, if you can find it, there's a great podcast interview with Michael Waegner. He produced pretty much every CD that nuno has been on. He said that Nuno wasn't always the way he is... maybe it was the success?

It's a cool interview if you can find it.

I can tell you that as soon as Porno broke he was like the way he is now...and got worse as each album came out. I'd bet money some of it was the fact that Extreme was on the tail end of the whole "hair metal" thing so they never got their due or had the kind of success that others had, but I've met/hung out with almost all of the Boston guitar heavy weights (Nuno, Paul DiBartolo, Doug Blair, Gene Ditrina, etc...) and Paul and Doug COULD NOT have been cooler guys. In fact, Bang (Paul's Boston band before Spread Eagle) was the coolest bunch of guys ever, and Paul is every bit the talent Nuno is...Doug Blair played in Run 21, and later on (and still) is in W.A.S.P. and he's an amazing player too, cops the whole LA sound to a T. The song "Kid Ego" is written about Mike, Bang's singer...but Mike never was a jerk to me or any fans that I ever saw...really nice guy so that may have been a bit of professional jealousy there (Bang were bigger than Extreme for a while, and they were FOR SURE the top two drawing bands in Boston back in the day)

At about the 40 minute mark he flips off the lead singer and then yawns doing his solo and mouths "boring". Great player who is devoid of any class.

I like Nuno, but the best guitar players are Holdsworth, Paco de Lucia, Joe Pass, Brett Garsed, Guthrie Govan, Shawn Lane...

Best according to?

I probably shouldn't have said "best" in the original post. He's one of my favorites for a number of reasons and is clearly talented to a level that most will never reach.

It's pontless to argue who's best for prople with those skills. It's too subjective...

You like prog? and Nuno's above those guys to you?

Did I even mention my taste somewhere? I think that statements as "the best is/are" are a bit silly in the context of arts. Maybe in weight lifting contests and such they make sense, not in the world of arts... imho

I don't have a favorite guitar player, I have many, from many genres.

I think u missed the joke lol. Gary sang "then comes nuno in a Baby carriage" then nuno gave him the finger. And I'm sure the crowd was impressed with the bored look and yawn (kinda like Jason Becker and the yoyo). As far as anything else that's said in this thread regards to him being a douche I can't comment as I've never seen it but I'm sure it's true.

I don't know, dude. You have the word Prog in your name so I assumed... Probably wrong on my part. Want to throw out your dick on the counter and compare skills? I've spend 3 and a half decades working on mine so bring it or stfu

Do you have some reading issue?

I just wanna know how he gets a fat percussive tone with those Bill Lawrence pups.
