I have the entire GW Cantrell lessons sitting here in my DVD player but I already got a warning from Youtube for uploading Copyrighted material so I wont do it again.

Found this pic when I was going through my harddrive, I think this is Jerry's rack from 2005 or 2006?

As long as you bumped it...

What kind of marshall is that?

Saw them last night, great show.

vintage modern
I think he didn't use that setup for more than a few months, cause he was already using the Uberschalls for a couple years

NEW DISCOVERY:
After asking Bogner about Layne's amp, they responded and told me he used a Bogner modded Marshall. Possibly, Jerry's from his early days?

I have yet to see this Bogner and I viewed tons of bootleg footage, for some reason you just can't see Layne's rig in the early 90's  , I have seen him with the Laney or Layne 100watt amp, forgot the model number but it has the chrome faceplate. He also used a Mesa combo amp for Mad Season and I am still hung over so I cant remember what model it was.

I heard all his gear is in Nancy's(his mom) garage including the Gibson acoustic guitar he used for unplugged. I have been thinking about e-mailing her and asking her to take pics of his gear but I dont know how appropriate it would be.

Well, that would be awesome! I've asked Baldy and he didn't know. And Bogner said he used a MARSHALL modded by Bogner.

you should see MIKE STARR's gear collection.

i was jamming with him back in 2000, and we went up to seattle and hung out. he had an entire basement full of gear, and he tried to GIVE me a custom guitar that Steve Vai had given him.

Mike had about a DOZEN Spector basses that EVH had hooked him up with during the AIC/Van Halen tour.

we also visited Layne at his condo, one of the saddest things i have ever seen.

love me some AIC....my fave of all the seattle era bands!

Last I heard is most of that gear is gone but he still has his white Spector NS2 bass but it is or was always in and out of the pawn shop. Was Layne making clay stuff with his kilm at that time? Anyone I know who was over there told me about it.

I say go for it. We're just huge Layne fans that want to learn as much as we can about him.

Layne used a Mesa Tremoverb.

Not kidding, including the Mad Season stuff you can see him with one during the AIC 92-93ish years, there is a real good shot of it on the Mike Inez IMV Behind the Player DVD.

Damn it now I want to find a early 90's tremoverb I bet they sound badass like the early rectos.

Better if you ask me..... the first ones came out around '94.

Someone recently had number 8 Tremoverb for sale dated from 1993. I know AIC got a bunch of the early rectos when they were recording Dirt in 92...

93' would not surprise me. I am doing this from memory. I think 92' was too early for the Tremoverb.

Back then all the cool bands got the cool gear earlier than the rest of us so it probably was not till 94 when you could just go to GC and buy it.

Layne went to his Laney head for the Kiss tour and that was it. I have never seen him with a Bogner 100B which would have been 94 when those came out and someone claimed that is what Layne used.

So, a Mesa Tremoverb? Did he use a head in '92-'93, and a combo during Mad Season?

No he used a Tremoverb combo in 93 for sure because you can see a clear shot of it on the Mike Inez IMV Behind the Player DVD he had it before the Lollapalooza 93 summer tour. What he used in 92 is still up in the air...

I'm telling you that Bogner told me he used a Bogner-modded Marshall. Probably Jerry's from the early days.

I updated the first page fourth post with more stuff from the recording of the self titled album. I only took the stuff out of the articles that was relevant to gear.

There is a track by track listing with Jerry's commentary on Tripod.
