Ola demos the Mesa Recto 90 Reissue.......

It’s interesting. I was looking forward to this (mostly for the chrome chassis) but the demos seem lackluster to me. I also wish it was offered in a triple rec. my understanding is they changed the clean channel and it’s not quite an F not quite a G? A straight triple F reissue in chrome would be awesome (with a small logo)

I love Rectos, but his clip without a boost sounded horrible (compared to his usual tones), IMO. Like he was playing with a sponge instead of a pick.

Yeah. I know this was emotional for Ola, but honestly, the best sound I have heard from him besides on albums was that folkesson modded marshall. That thing sounded fucking huge

I put some winged c in my multi watt Triple today and it Fuchs so much more than this. Shocked to be honest.

Yup, definitely still needs a boost pedal lol

Huh did I miss something? Was there somebody running around telling people you can play tight chugga chugga metal riffs on a Recto without a boost?

EDIT: Hahaahahaha wait I remember now

You’re comparing an amp you own and played through a guitar cab in the room to a recording of a mic’d amp and cab you listened to on music speakers, as if those things are comparable?

If in-person it sounds much different to a typical Rev G original I'd be quite surprised. It's not rocket science to build an amp that sounds like another amp - especially if the company did it in the past.

I do wish there was way less room mic going on in these clips though. Presumably he's trying to appease both the close mic and "in the room" crowds. Sounded great in the opening song though.

I really liked the way this amp sounds on this video.
With his white guitar was way better than the red one.
I'm not expecting this amp to sound, without any boost pedal, as tight and clear, the way a Hermansson or a Ground Zero do. I also think every single Rev F and Rev G I've ever heard, that was stock, sounded like absolute ass, when trying to play fast riffs or chugging. And I've had many of them over the years. So, again, I'm not being unrealistic and expecting this reissue to sound like a Hermansson or a Ground Zero without a boost. That would never happened. It would also never happen with either an original F or a G Revision.
Even the Rev C, D and E, which are way tighter than ANY stock F or G, as good as they sound when plugging straight in, they do sound way better still with a good boost in front of them.
So, yes... I really liked his tone on this video. And it does sound like a great mid to late 90s DR.
