I always liked a Sovtek LPS in V1 on any Cameron.

Steve +1 on the lps, its like a hidden treasure. I don't have any left, time to reorder. Did you ever try one in the phase inverter?

I did in the PI too, but it doesn't make much difference there. In V1 though, it tames some of the excess gain and fattens things up a bit and very quiet. Even though it is not needed, I usually order up balanced tubes for the PI, whether an LPS or a JJ or Chinese for the PI. As for Chinese tubes, I have a shit load of Penta C9's but I am really like the Ruby HG+ as they get culled the most for microphonics, etc. I got a bunch of C8's too, but I can't really tell much difference and just assume to go with a brand new tube in amps I play a lot or gig with. NOS tubes stay at home....

i appreciate that ...but still , what brand is it...am i missing something? i can't think of a brand of tube w/ e i
thanks!

EI - made in Yugoslavia. There are some new reissues being made. but they are crap. The prewar EI Yugi's are nice tubes. There are lots of them floating around and not too rare. I have a drawer full of them.

thanks steve! would have never of thought of that brand..

Dave, this is the type of mid character that got me interested in the CCV to begin with. I believe this is what is reffered to as Kerrang. I hear it here also with Mark.
If you guys are getting in to the NOS tubes. I used to buy and sell quite a bunch of them overseas. I had everything except the that super high end Telefunken ECC803S. I cannot find a better NOS tube than the the original Rosnov 32 code silver pin military logo for V1 for guitar.. I have had 10 amps that I put that tube in and it always delivers. It's my favorite. Didn't like the gold pins. They last for years. I have had a few for like 7 years now and they still test strong and do not go microphonic. I think they will never die.

The few hand built CCV's released were different. Dave's has a particular set of characteristics that are probably different from others. My original certainly was different than his. It has been said that Art's original was the best of the lot. At least now, there will be consistency across the board and finally a true CCV description can be published. Looking forward to getting mine now....both of them. V1/V2 and power amp tubes will make a huge difference - certainly if you are testing JJ's vs. SED's. The SED's will damn sure have a lot to do with the mid-character of the amp.

Anyway, keep all the good stuff coming. Clips and experimentation with tube changes is good stuff for reference. It will take me all of about 5 minutes to pull some of those Chinese preamp tubes out when I get mine.

Steve
Steve when you get yours and if the SLO kicks it's ass you have my address and I have your Paypal

Noted!

Speaking of SLO's, I got my purple one the other day from Jim. 2005 model with depth and scoop. Killer machine for sure. I am hoping the CCV is a good one. It is going to have a tough time going head to head with my SLO's.

I'm gassing for a SLO bad but the CCV is creaping up on me again!! The reason I sold my CCV didn't work out (which figures but oh well) and now I'm seeing them land and the hearing clips my motor is reving out of control again.

I've had 2 CCV's so far and they've both been awesome and I don't think I could tell one from another. I haven't experienced this variability that some people talk about.

I believe Nick has had the same experience.

I have a few hundred NOS preamp and power tubes. I like certain types for certain amps. I cant remember if I have any Rosnovs...

This clip was made with Marks original prototype (pre-Brad) CCV...same as used in the NAMM videos. ;)
Well it sounds bad ass. The Rosnov 32 code silver pins are consistently in the 1600-1900 range for micromhos. Just a great guitar tube imo.

I'm second run, no need to let the cat out of the bag yet. Plus, I've sold a bunch of gear that's nearly replenished what I spent on the head. The cabinet I recently added to my order is a different story...

GAS is a bitch.
