Tired of the argument. Once and for all, Crosby is better than Ovechkin. Ovi can put up some numbers but Crosby is a winner. Ovi disappears when the game is on the line.

Crosby = :thumbsup:

To me Crosby is a complete hockey player. Ovi is a great scorer but shut him down and he doesn't contribute much. Crosby is much more benificial to the defensive side of the Pens game than Ovi is to the defesive side of the Caps game.

Ovechkin will be a better GOLF player tho
No, I'm sure Crosby can beat him at that too.

What's amazing about Crosby is that he is constantly trying to improve his game. Even after the winning the cup he spent the summer working on his shot and shootouts. This year he wins the Rocket Richard and he was unreal in shootouts this year. However this season ends up I guarantee he will work over the summer and be a better player next year.

I wish I had the link, but I remember reading a quote from Mario Lemieux where he said that if he had Crosby's work ethic he would have broken all of Gretzky's records.

And now it looks like Ovi will be hitting the golf course a lot sooner then anyone thought :D

Yeah Crosby is great on the defense side... ovechkin/washington defense are lame ;)

It's never even been debatable IMO. Ovechkin is a goon. He takes 600 shots a year, scores 50 goals, gets suspended for dirty hits, chokes in the playoffs, doesn't care about backchecking or playing defense, and doesn't make anyone around him better. Guy is a great scorer, far from a complete player, and most importantly...not a winner and never shows up when it matters most. Plus he's an asshole. Sidney Crosby is nothing but class. You'll never see him doing some absurd Chad Ochocinco-esque taunt or spray snow on a little kid.

+1

Ovechkin is the SOLE reason i was pulling for Montreal. (well, I don't like Chimera much either  ) While I'd like to see some one else getting the ring this year, I would have to root for Pittsburgh if they make the finals. Crosby has been a great attention getter for the sport of ice hockey.

OT: Crosby grew up playing in the rink I played in as a kid (why didn't I turn out that good  )

I'm a Caps season ticket holder and I aboslutley HATE the Penguins, but honestly, you are right. I don't think Ovi necessarily dissapeared last night, but Crosby is a more complete player. It's really hard to argue.

i think everyone knows (but won't admit) who the best player is
Sid can do just about anything on the ice plus he's won on every level where ovechkin has failed
oh and i think semin & green are softest players in the nhl

let's go pens

Ovechkin still only has 1 career playoff series win, and that was last year in the first round against the 7th ranked Rangers, and it took them 7 games to even get past them. Five years in the league and you've won 1 playoff series...pathetic. You're not even close to being the best player in the league. Crosby and the Pens have a good shot at being in their 3rd straight Stanley Cup finals and possibly winning two in a row.

He's probably better at golf than hockey anyways. No stupid teammates to worry about and nobody to steal away all of his shots.

Or shoving a fan, can't forget that wonderful Olympic moment.

I did find the press trying to focus on Ovechkin even though he hadn't DONE much of anything in the series to be hilarious though. like at the start of game seven where he made ONE HIT and they went on and on about how he was such an impact player with his physicality blah blah blah

I watched a lot of the Montreal/Washington series and Ovechkin doesn't setup plays for his other team mates, he just tries to do it all himself and fails.
The lone wolf style does not work in hockey...teams win games.

I like Ovechkin, but it's moot since he couldn't get past the Habs. My brother was wearing his Guy LaFleur jersey as we watched the game last night.

He takes 15 shots a game, I dunno why people think he's so amazing. Any skilled offensive NHL player could take 500-600 shots in a season and score 50 goals. I remember last year he had something like 250 more shots than Rick Nash and only about 10 or so more goals. Hilarious.

EDIT: Nevermind, he actually had 265 more shots than Nash and only 16 more goals. That's just unimaginable that Rick Nash only took 263 shots and Ovechkin had 528. Nash could have put up 70-80 goals if he were as selfish as Ovechkin.
