he sounds like Clapton , Hendrix , Marc Bolan , Pete Townsend , Jeff Beck , Robby Krieger , etc ...

I don't think so at all ... who do you think he sounds like ???

I don't have to justify my opinion.

all of those guys are teh suck anyways.

give me Setzer, Manzanera, May, Bratta, DiMartini, Atkins, Knopfler, etc any day of the fuckin' week.

a good melodic sense PLUS technical ability trumps supposed "soul" every time. IMO of course. ;)
There is times on bootlegs Page's playing is just painful to listen to. But they're great songs he wrote nonetheless.

I agree ... he can be one of the sloppiest guys ever to pick up the instrument .. I guess I'm thinking more along the lines of his music writing ... and Studio work .

Oh and let's face it ... he's written some of the best riffs in rock

These threads are ghey. 19 year olds saying Hendrix is overrated.

When are those HC bans being lifted? :gethim:

For me it's Ten years Gone, The Rain Song...the bigger pieces...incredible writing.
He wasn't a great player so it baffles me how he wrote that stuff.

you know ... I meant to post the fact that I really liked the video of Ten Years Gone that you posted in the other thread .... hadn't heard that in a long time ... it was one of those songs I thought they never played live . I was mesmerized the whole 10 minutes of that vid ... good friggin stuff !!!

I really respect Jimi Hendrix for all he did and all...but I dont think his actual talent shows as much as it used to next to guys like Guthrie Govan, Bumblefoot, Mattias Eklundh and such. Same with EVH...theyre both amazing in the innovative perspective but people thing theyre just so amazing when I dont really agree...

I also do not think Tom Morello, John Fruscianti, and Steve Vai are as good as they are made out to be.

I will probably get some shit for this, but I think Dimebag is really over rated. I don't feel that he was "over rated" when he was alive per say, but since his death his legend/legacy has grown exponentially beyond his musical achievements.

Just my 2 cents. *puts on flame suit* :scared:

well he did help keep metal alive, play kickass guitars, was killed in a horrible way, been slagged of by william grim with the aesthetics of hate article, which rallied fans to dimebag, and he left us with the kickass razorback!

Also, made some of the most awesome riffs, and shreds immensly :rawk:
