You must not wear hearing protection when youre at the range.
Sure I do. These days. I did spend 35 years standing in front of walls of bass amps with no ear pro though. Back then we didn’t even know it was a thing. Nevertheless my hearing is fine. She’s So European, Shandi, that shit is terrible.

Paul and Gene’s hidden agenda, finally exposed!

Examine these lyrics from Flaming Youth:

How flaming youth will set the world on fire
Flaming youth, our flag is flying higher and higher and higher
My uniform is leather, and my power is my age
I'm gettin' it together to break out of my cage

I wonder what flag they’re talking about. And cage is obviously a metaphor for gender

Forget about the Knights In Satan’s Service rumor. It was KIDS IN SEX SURGERIES the entire time!

Pretty sure that’s a Paul song. Lyrics anyway. And anyone who doesn’t think that dude ain’t sucked a dick or two is out of their mind.

So many of us here were KISS fans growing up, but moved on from KISS as we got older.
Its nice that we can come back and have some spirited discussions though.

I love KISS, but Ill goof on them just the same.

Some of that early stuff still stands the test of time for me. Like all those songs on that list that weren’t off Destroyer. I still love that shit.

The Kiss cards ......I was trying to collect them all ... but never did .... I still have some of them ....

I don't see on that list any Destroyer songs, yet you defend the album this much?

I'm not saying Dynasty as a whole is a great album, I'm saying Dynasty has a few songs I like whereas Destroyer IMO is not tolerable.
Filler songs that aren't remotely good.
Wait I'm all for subjective etc... but Detroit Rock City, God of Thunder, Shout, King? Those songs rock. I mean the dude dying at the end of Detroit left a lasting impression on me as youngster.

Werd.

Yep.

I never moved on though, to me that's what made them my boys. I mean Creatures to me is not only Kiss's most underrated album but one of the most underrated rock albums of the 80's. That stuff still holds up today from the musicianship to the production whereas to this day I refuse to buy Hot in The Shade. I was like I'm not spending money on that crap, then they totally redeem themselves with Revenge.

I don't know once I'm in, I'm along for the ride but but as I said above, the great thing is I can call bullshit when I hear it. I'm that way with all my favorite bands though i.e. Thin Lizzy, Queen etc...

Edit - to clarify moving on - when they did the Farewell Tour in 99' ish, yes that was it for me. They said bye, I said bye. I've never purchased anything post that barring the End of the Road tour where I took my son who had a blast. I've heard the albums with Tommy and there are a few tunes here or there that are worthy but most of it is just meh. Plus Tommy may be the most uninspiring guitarists I've ever heard. Still taking my son was 100% worth it because even though Gene and Paul had obviously slowed to a crawl on stage, it was a great show.

I got to admit I thought it was a parody or ai fake at first.
At first I actually thought it was one of those mix memes where they overlay something on top of the original.

No wonder Ace and Peter drank and did drugs
Oh man that is so funny. And probably true.

I wouldn't be playing guitar without the early Kiss records being in my life ...
Parents bought me Double Platinum for my 6th birthday ...
IMO .... some of the early stuff has a Punk element to it ...
Same. When my parents heard Christine Sixteen and Ladies Room coming up loud from the basement they took my KISS records away when I was 8. A few years later they bought me a Double Platinum poster to put next to all my other KISS posters.

When I was 8 my dad ( Also a bassist) bought me a bass. It was a Kay SG copy which I painted black in a seriously misguided attempt to make it look like Gene’s Grabber bass. Every inch of my bedroom walls were covered with pages out of the Kiss magazines I got at the grocery stores. What other band back then had entire magazines devoted to them ? I was in my first band by 11 and first working band at 15. Lots of Kiss, Rush and Sabbath covers. By then I had bought an early 80s p bass and then traded it with some cash for my ‘74 Rickenbacker 4001.

This one.

@Floyd Eye - I wish I had a picture of my bedroom with all the posters - mostly KISS.

Good for you for getting in early on (bass) guitar. I feel like I've wasted 40 years

Maybe moved on wasnt the correct way of saying opening the doors to other bands?

I was so die hard in grade school, no other bands mattered and I took that opinion all the way to high school.
But, KISS did open the rock doors for me to check out and get into other bands.

Asort of "gateway drug" so to speak...

PS: The KISS pics in college was my roommate. But obviously, I got lucky. Could have been someone into Yanni. :dunno:

I had moved on from (new) KISS (for the most part) after Dynasty so I was a 70's KISS fan for sure. Not so much an 80s/90s KISS 2.0 fan. Although I did dig the Asylum album. Bruce's riffs and the solo on King of the Mountain were great
