Paul takes a Solo..

So Torpedo Girl sounds like Cold Gin or Parasite lol? Zero doubt G&P wrote some clunkers as I've said multiple times in this thread but they also wrote some great stuff and in the 80's and 90's as well. Ace, not so much his high point was Cold Gin and Parasite on the first two albums. You should do yourself a favor or disfavor and pull up Peter's solo album, then put yourself in their mindset and think this is the stuff he was wanting the band to make lol.
Shock Me and Rocket Ride are good. And his solo album has a shit ton of great riffs and leads even if a lot of the lyrics are cheese dick.

Peter had a cool voice but as far as song writing all he ever had was Beth and he didn’t even write that. His solo album was the epitome of garbage. And the album he did after that where he covered that song Pat Benatar had a hit with ( You Better Run) was even worse. He was a good drummer in his prime though. He fit those early songs perfectly.

But...but....Beth
Written by Stan Penridge and I think Bob Ezrin. It was actually about Ezrin’s wife I think. They had to change the name. If I’m not mistaken.

And we’re all glossing over the fact that it’s a terrible fucking song. At least for a band like Kiss. It’s right up there with that Folgers commercial. Every time I ever heard that song I felt embarrassed for him.

That song is the musical equivalent of this coffee commercial:

The solo wasn't terrible, but the tone sounded like it was dialed in by someone who'd walk around clasping their coffee mug with two hands.

You beat me to it, every time people start fellating the most overrated band in rock in roll history, I always have this in my back pocket, just in case

I joined my first death/thrash band when I was 16... and they knew I was into Kiss, just like our bass player was (we always did the Paul and Gene faces in some rock bar when they played "I was made for lovin' you") so, when I turned 18, the other bandmembers got me a birthday gift... "Unmasked" on vinyl. o_O:eek:
Me first thought was "What, you guys must hate me, huh?" :ROFLMAO:

Still have it. Never played it. Fuck that. Gimme 'Alive I', 'Kiss', 'RARO' and 'Love Gun'... heck, Creatures would've made a better gift.

Creatures is a GD masterpiece.

As a Kiss fan it was low times at that point. Unmasked - cheese wiz. The Elder, wtf. Had a local record shop that had import stuff and got Killers which had a few new original tunes and they were ok.

Then Creatures is released, I had my big ass Yamaha home stereo back then with JBL 4311B speakers and that album rattled the house. Those speakers were amazing, lost them in a flood when the hot water heater busted while on vacation and they sat in water for a week, uggh.

Yeah, thinking back, I should've probably said "Animalize/Asylum" instead of Creatures.
It's just... I was always a big Ace fan (early stuff and his cackle laughter) and he didn't play at all on Creatures...

And don't get me wrong, those two albums ain't no gems either, but they had Tears Are Falling and Heaven's on Fire...cheesy AF, but still GD catchy. :giggle:

And that outfit with a BC Rich Ironbird?! I mean...come oonnnnnn! :ROFLMAO:

I'm a big fan of Animalize. And there is some good stuff on Asylum as well but that whole look they were going for at that point? Yikes. Tears is actually a really cool balladesque type song, I always liked the guitar work on that track. Should have been a bigger hit.

Then again look at what Dokken was wearing on ULAK lol. I always liked George's sash. Nothing says I'm here to throw down with some kick ass rock n roll better than a shoulder sash, you know.

“You know I’ve always thought you were cute Brad!”
(Moving in Stereo-loudly playing in the background and “Brad” jerking his fucking meat off in the bathroom while peeping through the window looking at phoebe cate’s tittaaayyyyyys!

Oh. And Stacie played a loose goose in every movie she has been in since. Her typecast was a fucker

I'm pretty sure all women were hotter in the 80s but I can't be sure because I was only alive a couple of years

Way different time. 80s was another age of EXCESS! I was a Teenager in the 80s. It was summed up with Ferrari’s, Hair, Glam, bag cell phones, cocaine, and Miami fucking Vice. Oh yeah…… AIDS🫤.
I wish I could go back.
we had just moved to a new town and I guess Cable TV was just starting to be available there ( 1983 .... I was 12 )
Fastimes at Ridgemount High was played probably 4 times daily on three different movies channels that summer ..... it's impact on me was un-avoidable

another Movie I loved that was done by the same people that did Fastimes .... was The Wild Life .... with Christopher Penn and Eric Stoltz .... anyone remember that one ??

Rick Moranis's character in that friggin killed me !!

I do. That Stoltz dude, aka “mask” was a dweby dude and the guy from weird science was in it correct? Stoltz will never get away from mask.
