Do not put anything between your guitar and the fuzz pedals, it will kill the tone.

fixed for this guy

Just one question about buffers where I don't have any experience.

In setup where signal is going in this direction:
Wireless receiver (considering buying Line 6 Relay rack)->ch 1 ISP Decimator prorack G->9m (~30ft) cable->XX->Tuner (true bypass)->wah true bypass->9m cable->preamp->rest of rack

Tuner and wah are on pedalboard.

Is it recommended to put buffer in chain on XX markings or to some other place or do I really need buffer at all?

Are you getting a lot of tone suck (darkening) as opposed to plugging straight in? You have some pedals with buffers already. If anything you could try one after the Wah.

FWIW, I took a loopmaster and did an A/B/C test.

straight thru

T1M mini buffer

MIJ Boss PSM-5 (as a buffer)

results. holy crap.

1. The signal is REALLY dark without the buffer

2. The MIJ Boss buffer sounds about as good as the T1M, maybe a bit brighter, but it still sounds great.

3. The T1M was the winner, and for that price and size, it's a grandslam. The PSM5 took up a big space on my pedal board.

:scared: i was implying that i dont use any pedals but fuzz pedals. my jokes suck.

The option I ended up going with was the Suhr Koko boost. It has a really good buffer in it, a great clean boost and a very intersting Mid boost. Has become my only boost pedal other than my Zvex fuzz pedal. This is more expensive than some of the other options, but if you like the clean and mid boost the buffer is just an added benefit.

Another unit is I have all three Eventides and people??? The DSP Bypass on these units absolutely f*ckin' KILLS!!!

I love them.

I really do.

+1 on the Factor pedals I have a Timefactor and love it! Great units and helps if you want the Eventide sound and not have a rack.

Bumping a good thread.

Anyone ever hear of this one?

5M of pickup loading is certainly a lot, enough to cause a difference, but I'm trying to decide if it could be too much? IDK, I think the input on my Type 85 has a 10M input impedance and I like running my guitar through that so... idk.

From what you guys are saying, I think that T1M sounds awesome too. They have one with True Bypass option which makes the process of seeing what it's doing and/or bypassing it when using fuzzes a lot easier.

No advice on the pedal or the buffer impedance? Personally, I'd think that a buffer of 5meg would be a little bright and/or spanky on the bypass tone, but I've never messed with buffers myself, only input/output impedances. Any wisdom on the matter?

Hey guys,
sorry to hijack a thread but I need help.

I have allot of tone loss from my rig. Can you please help me choose where to put 2 guitar buffers or any other changes in my pedal board.
My bogner is a rev. 2 uberschall and the thing above it in the picture is a Palmer PGA-04. I am attaching it here.

I am playing this Friday and got to figure this out. FYI The reverb is very light and almost always on same with the black label chorus..

thanks in advance!

Ditch the Palmer, not needed here. Swap the Reverb and the Delay, I like my chorus out front, not in the loop. If you are setting the G-String really high to compensate for noisy pickups, poor electrical or surroundings, it will kill some tone. Back it off to where it's just getting the job done.

i don't see why the palmer isn't needed? what if he's running XLR direct to the board and not mic'ing?

anyway.. i'm not uberschall expert, but if its like most older bogners, the loop is +4db, which would overload alot of pedals and sound like shit.. i think someone said the newer ones have send controls.. its look there..

you don't need a buffer.. the fx loop is buffered, and the g-string is buffered.. i'd bet you're dealing with level mismatches, or impedance mismatch.

also, if your picture is accurate, you've got active pickups.. which are also low-impedance..

The channel volumes are the send levels for the loop. Any pedal or rack mount effect should work in it. The Rev2 has such a usable power section you can get a great mic'ed tone at just about any volume, mic'ed is the way to go.

Simple solution, remove one item at a time from your setup until it becomes obvious which piece is causing the problem.

Thanks guys! Really quick replies and helpful! the palmer stays it was a huge investment and im going to play the crap out of it. it is needed to go into the board in practice, live, and I use it without a cab to use my redwirez uberkab impulses. I also mix it with a mic for a huge sound. it works for me.

I will try the chorus up front but I use it with minimal setting for a thickening sound for my rhythm like Zakk does. So im worried putting it up front would give me a chorused distortion instead of a distorted chorus?? I already bought the 2 buffers so id like to put them somewhere...it's all treble loss and was never an issue until I made my pedal board with the longer cables. I use all monster rock to btw.

I use pedals just fine in the loop as long as the channel volume stays below 2 and the g-string is set below the half way point.
