sup bros! :)

I've been gasing a Schmidt.......I'd liek to know something.... and I need some SERIOUS answer...you guys have never tried to sell me anything and I'd like a real answer even if it means the schmidt is not what I'm after.

I'm looking for the nicest cleans around, great platform for pedals and a nice rich uncompressed od channel.

I'll be mostly playing blues rock and pop rock.... John Mayer/Bonamassaish stuff.

the other two contender amps are:

Ceriatone Overtone Special
Used Two Rock/Carol-Ann

Can the Schmidt REALLY achieve what I'm after?

You know... My Herbert has one of the nicest Cleans I've EVER Heard. Try to give one a listen.

 Damn tootin'. The best damn clean in a beast (Herbert) I’ve ever heard. Start with Volume at 12:00, Master Volume 1 at 9:00, Treble at 2:00, Middle at 12:00, Bass at 2:00, Presence at 2:00, Deep at 2:00 and you have clean heaven.

But this cat is asking about the Schmidt gentlemen...

V.

thank you V. :)

I appreciate the props on the herbie's clean.... I have no doubt it has awesome clean, as both the Einstein and VH4 do too....but I'm looking for a poprock amp.......the VH4 is a GREAT all around rock amp, but the clean channel although VERY VERY NICE, still lacks that vintage Fendery/Dumble-ish cleans. Also I'm after a very vintage/non compressed gain structure.... and I wanted to know if the Schmidt would provide me with that, being the Diezel most suited for pop rock/blues/country, in the Diezel line.

Yah... But dude... The Herbert Is LOOSER sounding than a VH4... And VERY versatile... You can get Dumble Cleans, British Crunch, Hard Rock, and Nu Metal out of it...

Andy Wood is one of the most versatile players around... Just listen to his Demo of the Herbert at NAMM:

Don't dismiss it so fast... Just try to listen to one

I think you can´t compare the Herbert and the Schmidt easily. Ok Schmidti sounds like a Diezel but it´s a calss A amp. ANd class a sounds like it sounds and no ab can sound like that.
But fact is that Schimdt is an icredible awesome piece of amp. I never ever heard a class a amp sound like this. It´s amazing! I love it and i gas it. Like i gas a vh4. But there is no cash for the gas.

Joey, if you buy a Schmidt...you´ll love it! I promise you that!

hey joey - made it to the states i see.

a friend of mine over here has a schmidt and to get the tones you are after, i think it will be spot on. it is sparkly clean and can get some decent crunch and nice class a overdriven tones. there is a lot of dimension and depth to the tone as well. it isn't an amp i would personally go for, but it fills a hole in the diezel line up for just the purpose you are after. simple layout too.

thank you Steve, I made it safe and sound! Miss Barcelona a lot though :aww:

but it's great to be back home....

I think I'll save for a Schmidt guys..... seriously!

I would skip the Herbert for blues.

I can't help you with the Schmidt & you should definitely try one if you can, but I can tell you that for old fashioned blues & rock Dr Z amps would be my choice, but they are really loud.

Also it's probably worth to mention that trying amps for blues with your closed back cab with v30s or similar is probably not gonna bear the best results.

yeah I know what you mean. I have a new cab though. an Egnater 2x12 Tourmaster cab, sounds really warm and clear, I think it does the job GREAT. The Renegade is a GREAT amps too btw.....the clean channel is awesome.....

I'm just gasing a Class A amp.... :)

Merry xmass big bro! are you in sweet 'ol france ? :)

I last year's new year in PAris, AWESOME! :D

Go with the two rock! The shmidt has great cleans no doubt, but i think a two rock is just about as close as you can get for what you're looking for. and you referenced bonamassa and john mayer who both use two rock amps

the thing is I don't really like to recreate the tone of the musicians I like and use it myself. I'm after a more unique sound. Bonamassa and MAyer both have insane tone, but it's theirs...... I want something that's mine. :)

I've owned a Two-Rock Type 3, Overdrive Sig and Custom Reverb Sig V2... I have also owned all the Diezels. The Two-Rock cleans are untouchable. They are the fattest and most beautiful cleans that exist. IMO. The cleans on the Schmidt are great as well... but like you said Joey, "Unique"
There is still that Diezel texture/harmonic content in there, that is nothing like a Two-Rock... but still in a similar vein. The thing I like about the Schmidt is the OD side. The Two-Rock's are not tight at all.
Even with pedals there is a ton of Sag... Some people want that, some don't. The Schmidt has more sag than say a VH4, but is still a lot tighter that the TR's. It also takes pedals well. I like that it can do warm marshall lead territory(Eric Johnson/Bonamassa) but still be versatile enough to go heavier if need be. To me the Two-Rock's are not very versatile... I know you own other amps, but the TR's are a one trick pony.

If you are looking for the best cleans... Go for a TR
If you are looking for great cleans and a better OD channel... Go Schmidt.
They both have a very unique sound. Where they really differ is the feel.
Two-Rocks have a VERY...VERY different feel. I personally could not adjust to it. and ended up selling them off. The attack is very strange. Soft, very loose.
The Dumble type feel is an acquired taste.
An other specific questions, fell free to shoot me a PM.

hey Kyle, thanks a lot for the comments, let me ask you some more then.

I'm very fond of the Fender clean.... I like kind of scooped mids clean (fender), more than the heavy mid clean on say, vox amps.... I want a VERY nice clean channel, maybe not the BEST clean channel there is since I believe such thing doesn't exist (tone is a subjective thing).

How are the cleans on the schmidt? vox like?, Fender like? Dumble like?
