It's interesting how it can sound that way even at low volumes...some of the preamp gain sounds and feels like power tube breakup somehow...

It's because I designed it that way. And unlike previous posts where I'm joking around and being full of myself, I really do mean it. Most people don't believe my amps can do this, until they hear them in person.

It has the best master volume I've ever heard...no lie. I don't need to crank it to get a nice tone.
With the old '71 Marshall I needed a Hotplate to get happening what this amp does at low volumes.

I should count the number of customers I have that sold their attenuators after they bought my amps. That would make for an interesting bit of trivia, because the answer is definitely more than one (probably closer to a dozen people).
