I’m gonna write something myself. Everytime I start riffing on stuff it sounds like “can I change my mind” though lol
Looking forward to hearing it. Daniel. I'm hoping to have a full length original record by mid November. Headed out in a minute to rehearse/demo a couple new tunes we hashed out last week. Not a lot of gigs lately which is a blessing since I need to get it done soon. Passed one deadline, now facing another one. Have a good night brother, maybe I'll check back in later if I ain't too tired.

Some news I got just recently is that our forum member who was lodged in a hotel for many iffy days during the San Bernardino Line Fire has been able to return to an undamaged home. I was very happy to hear this. That is great news.

Hope any of you Florida guys in the storm's path are doing ok. Looks like it's gonna hit N Florida with a vengeance. Def thinking of you guys. My sister is in Tallahassee.....

Up to 190km/h winds predicted.

Don't know what that is in miles, maybe 120?
Yes. Just talked to my daughter. She still has power and all is well. One of my best friends is also ok but some of the lower lying beach homes are swamped. My parents stayed put but have one of the more elevated lots on the island so hopefully are high and dry.

Well...my sister's place is a swimming pool right now, just got word this morning. Water up to the tops of the counters, sewage backed up. Had to get evac'ed at 11 last night. Not sure why she stayed. Once the surge goes over the dunes it's flooding time on the north end of the beach. At least she is insured but she just lost everything, car included. Rough. Parents place stayed high and dry. Gotta call my daughter this morning...

Went through this in April 2017. Total loss. It sucks. And flood insurance is a scam. Not a valued policy. Some adjuster will come in and tell you they're only going to pay for 4' of drywall replacement at the bottom of the walls, etc..

I was more fortunate than most that I am fully equipped and capable of rebuilding my own house from the ground up, nevertheless I had to take out a 40k loan to buy the material in order to gut the place properly and rebuild. I also had to stay in a friend's basement for 6 months while I worked on my house after work every day and on the weekends. I had just bought my wife a brand new Avalon 11 days prior. Even paid for "Gap" insurance. 3 days after the flood, when we could get back into the neighborhood we found the car with all the seats laid flat and nothing electronic working. When it was said and done I paid 2k for her to drive her new car for 11 days.

I wanted to abandon the house initially. When we got back in the woman started ripping shit out of the house and throwing it in the front yard. She asked me why I wasn't helping. I told her " Fuck this house, I'm not moving back in here". She pointed out that whether I moved back in or not I was going to be paying for it. We nearly got divorced over it frankly.

I considered raising the house, but that was, eh, cost prohibitive. In the end we went a different route. My new flood insurance includes a large rider for contents. And the house is a couple months from paid off. If it was to happen again we'd get a fat check and walk away.

Hopefully your sister doesn't have to go through all that brother. Other horrible shit was happening to me at the same time, but I can tell you it was the most stressful and fucked up time in my entire life. And that's saying something. Seriously.

This is what I think the result will be. My mom told me my sister is "done with flood zones" so I'm guessing she'll fix it and then sell. The houses on that end of the beach are in the 600k range. She paid 150 so she should come out pretty good.

My dad can do all the work, except he's closing in on 80 in a few years and has survived prostate cancer in the last year so I don't think he's in the shape to be doing any of the work anymore, at least long term work.

This is why when I lived in Florida I refused to buy a place in an evacuation zone. We were high and dry but two blocks down there would be flooding when rains and storm surges got intense. This too even when there was a large pond and other spillways for flood control a block away.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Floyd. Appreciate that.

Making an urgent prayer request for my FL family and friends of which I have many. The incoming storm is predicted to be utterly catastrophic, the worst in over 100 years. If it bullseyes Tampa Bay my old man's house is def gonna be fully wrecked or gone. My sister's house is already completely wrecked from Helene. Her car is gone. Pop is loading up his guitars and amps and heading to my other sister's place in Tallahassee. Trying to convince my daughter to beat it outta there but she's not really listening. She doesn't realize you can survive a storm and then be without water, sewer, or power for days, weeks, or potentially even longer. She is not strong or fit or prepared enough to handle that. Very few are. At least I was able to put her in touch with some good friends who are staying in case it really goes south. Thanks guys.

Thanks Floyd. It's not looking good at all right now. Having been through a bunch of these in the past my gut tells me this is gonna change everything down there forever in a major way. Talked to some friends I was planning a tour down there with and we may just put on a rescue mission instead depending on how this plays out. Saws, socks, shovels and water instead of guitars and blues. Or maybe some of both.

Hoping it don’t come to that man.

His house is still standing. I think the damage should be fairly minimal. Maybe light flooding in the lanai and some roof tiles missing and a messy pool. I'm thankful bro. I should know more tomorrow. Tentatively planning on rolling out sunday. My old FL bassist and very good friend died tuesday, just got word this a.m so it looks like instead of getting to see him I will attending his memorial service while I'm there.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Be blessed.☦️
