I have all JJ 803s and 83s now i nthe MOD. They are great.

Anyone know the stock SL2 tubes that come with the module? My Bassman came with EH 12AX7 and I am probably not touching those, my previous MHG had EHs as well. My EG5 came with Sovteks and they are staying. I had sent him the MHG with EHs for the EG5 tweak and it came back with the tweak and Sovs so I know it was for a reason. I believe they are both the WAs.
What about the SL2? Anyone know?

Sovteks all around in both modules and the head. Nothing else.

Thanks Jeff! Maybe you guys changed them? I know my BMan and MHG had EH's.
Anyway, the Sovs are king in my EG5. I read a lot how people say you should upgrade from Sovteks, but why fix what isn't broken? I TRIED HIGH PRICED TUBES, and am back to the Sovs. It was the same with my VHT.
Why is there such a misconception that Sovtek = junk. Sad.
I have JJ 803/83 in my SL2 and may try the Sovs again.
Are they the WAs Jeff as well as in the head?

Not that they are junk,but just didn't sound as good in certain modules maybe?

Initially the EG5 does sound like more gain than the MHG. Funny because
loved my tone with the MHG but always complained about cut.
I was able to get it sounding pretty close to the
MHG by rolling off highs and presence. I never
had time to check the EG5 in a band scenario. My buddy tried the EG5 single
module for his Randall head and said the gain was too much and the mids were
not to his liking and I agree but maybe they sound differemt in Randalls compared to
Eggies?
You know, it sounds MUCH better with the Sovteks. Go figure! Tube stores
always say Sovteks are the bottom of the barrel, economy tube if you can't
afford anything else like Tung Sols, but I tried JJs, EHs, etc in this EG
and nothing sounds as good or as great as the Sovs, go figure!
