Pretty cool. And I love Randy but I want a polka dot guitar about as much as I want a striped guitar (and I love EVH). Which is to say...not.
Those were their trademarks.
I'm all about 'inspired by' guitars. Warren's and Nuno's guitars were inspired by EVH but still their own things. Then somebody like Dime wanted to go a totally different yet still inspired by EVH direction.I wanted an EVH for a while but you are right.. couldn't bring myself to play someone else's axe though admittedly I bought an Edwards Schenker V.. I think they got it right with those EVH inspired solid colored relic'd series axes though.
Currently yes. Since one guy's been dead for a while. Here's a PSA for Randy fans: Jake is a better guitarist.
Prefer Randy, but Jake was a monster. I think Randy wrote much better songs, as well. Here's a PSA for Randy fans: Jake is a better guitarist.
Oh yeah, he wrote better songs, indeed. Jake wrote weird sounding songs that didn't really fit pop metal, but still, he was a better guitarist.Prefer Randy, but Jake was a monster. I think Randy wrote much better songs, as well.

Bona fide chops master, 100%. Now, let's discuss Mustaine vs HammettSaw him in 1984 on BATM tour.
Yup great guitarist.
I like Randy much better. Like 100x better.
You might have a different opinion.
There are a million kids out there with blazing technical chops. Agree.
BUT.....there are VERY FEW that can actually write iconic music.
Randy had incredible chops and his music stands the test of time. Period.
What's even funnier is that the word "Hammett" didn't have any vibrato symbol...just like the man himself. Don't get me wrong, absolutely love Metallica, but man Kirk's vibrato sucks.Bona fide chops master, 100%. Now, let's discuss Mustaine vs Hammett
As a side, I find this a little sad. As I was just typing in Mustaine, it gave me the red "vibrato" looking symbol underneath for a possible misspelling, however, when I couldn't remember if Hammett was 1 or 2 "t"s but finally got it right, it didn't give me the "vibrato" symbol. It's sad that the software used here recognizes Hammett as a correct spelling for a word that only one person in history has as a last name, but thinks Mustaine is misspelled![]()
Dude, you win the internet for the day. You are king for 24 hours. What's even funnier is that the word "Hammett" didn't have any vibrato symbol...just like the man himself. Don't get me wrong, absolutely love Metallica, but man Kirk's vibrato sucks.

Diary is a Masterpiece, far surpassing BATM or US. Imho.I don't know why these posts always turn into a Jake vs Randy thread but both are awesome players. Song writing wise come on, people act like Jake was throw away and it is about lead chops. Jake Slays on Ultimate Sin. Song wise, it is stronger than Diary for me as he had the time to put in on the rythms AND solos. Randy has some filler throwaway leads on Diary. The bangers are great but some of the others feel rushed so they could get back out on the road and make Sharon $. I think live, Randy might have been the tighter player but i have room for both in my Hall of Greats.
