Going to post in here again.. I remember when Steve got what I believe was his first SLO and said EVERYTHING else was for sale! The Camerons, modded Marshalls, everything ;)

I remember when he gave someone a really nice high-end guitar just to be a nice guy. Yes, that actually happened.

Long ago, I tried trading a Mark IV toward one of his amps and he told me to hang onto it and I still have it 8 years later because I trust his opinion after the gear journey he's been on. He more recently told me that at the end of it, his Wizards, Bogners, Diezels and a Mark V have "come out the other end" and he stuck to them.

Take that as you will, just wanted to touch on some of his gear wisdom :). It's crazy and shocking that any one of us could be gone tomorrow. I'm glad I got to know Steve a bit over the years and still sort of shocked that he's gone.

Don't know if it's the one you're talking about but yeah, I remember when he was trying to sell this ESP Lynch kamikaze and after lowering the price a couple of times and starting to get annoyed, Mailman Dan said something like man I wish I had the cash for that or something and Steve says PM me your address and it's yours. Shit like that just doesn't happen...ever.

Maybe you remember this one time too, he was trying to sell these Warrior guitars and he had like 3 of them listed. Again, after lowering the price a few times and starting to get that feeling like he's gonna be bumping this stuff forever he says ok then, 3 guitars for the price of one   ... Dude was some kind of salesman. Love it.

I kinda remember him once saying that this stuff was like his hobby and he expected to take a loss, it came with the territory y'know, and he said when he was into Harley's that's when he really blew some cash.
It was kinda sad though when he seemed to stopped coming around here as much. I guess he didn't feel appreciated or too many trolls whatever. Seemed like he started doing the Facebook thing more then, right around that time of his Gil Yaron fiasco.

Anyways, I didn't do the jack and coke thing for him but I did grab my Luxxtone and crank it up through my Cameron Marshall both I got from him and still appreciate.
Rest in peace brother man

RIP Steve K

Had the pleasure of a few deals with him from here in the U.K.

Lovely guy to deal with and always had time to talk gear.

He also gave away a couple of (or 3) 4x12 cabs to a youth club or similar in his community. And it wasn't exactly crap cabinets. Unless I'm mistaken, they were Mesa Recto cabs. Sad to hear of his passing.

Steve and Dan were tight. They talked almost daily by text if I'm not mistaken. Steve will be missed. He was a special human being. Originally he was from Clifdon Ireland in the Connemara. Beautiful area of Ireland. It may still be all Gaelic speaking today. Steve and I spoke about it before when my Wife and I visited Ireland. I may not be completely correct but this is what I remember him saying. His family relocated to Tennessee.
I assume his job took him to Saudi. I sort of remember him telling me he was an engineer specializing in the safety of oil rigs. I remember a couple times he told me he was gone for 3 weeks because a rig was damaged or blew up. Something along these lines.
I know he adored his Wife who was from Dublin Ireland. His Rottweilers too. He loved those dogs. . He was diagnosed with Prostate cancer end of 2017 I believe. He told me the Dr's where he lived are affiliated with Jefferson here when we were talking about his treatments. He was doing so well with them. They radiated and killed his prostate rather than remove it, because it had spread to nearby bones. The treatments were working very well. He was getting scans every 3-6 months. On one of his last scans, they found 5 small lesions in his liver that were caught right away. We were hopeful because they were caught soon. I assume he had biopsy because he said it was an agressive form. He was responding to chemo but then the cancer overtook him. He had told me in the past that where he lived in Suadi was like a mini USA. He gigged all the way until he couldn't anymore.

The last I heard from him, a few days before engage posted he had passed, was through Reverb messages when he told me he had a good run until his liver got involved, and that the cancer was tearing his liver up, and he was getting his affairs in order.
My last message he never responded to, and I knew. I still went back and sent one more message to him.

I heard the news my friend. I pray you are in peace.

Well said Gary.

I keep coming back to this thread to read the posts. So much beauty in the love for Steve here.

Me as well.

Never knew him,...but to me he was the type of dude that (I felt like) made RT the place it was, and what kept bringing me back here over the past few years.

Yeah man, good stuff.

It times like these that make you recognize that your own mortality is closer by the day. You just never know. Enjoy life and don't be overcome by first world problems.

RIP Steve

What a shame. RIP and wish his family the best as they get through this. It’s so tough.

Pretty bummed by this and I didn't know. I will always treasure our conversations and gear trades. RIP Brother!

Like Martin, I keep coming back to this thread too.

I spent time talking to Steve outside of here, he slowed down his presence here but we chatted via Instagram and Facebook.

Had good chats, and talked a lot about Les Pauls and Mesa Boogie's. Especially when his Gil Yaron showed up broken, what a mess that was but he took it in stride.

I always loved his huge stack of Mesa Boogie 4x12's with the old school logo and gray piping.

Happy trails Steve!

It's been three weeks since Steve's passing. I still expect to come here, see a thread he responded to, someone he bitch slapped on FB, or a rant on the current social/political goofiness in the USA. I guess I didn't realize, besides being a long time client, that we interacted so much on RT, FB and Messenger on different subjects.

RIP Steve King, you were respected and well liked worldwide!

Jim
