Anyway back to the Rick discusion he is at least is trying to educate people and discuss music. Channels like his are a nice change of pace from the commercials disguised as reviews or the guys who are trying to be comedians(I could watch Stevie T vids if he just played guitar.) All these guys have their demographics though and whether you like them or not I'm sure they are using analytics to adjust their content. So no matter who you or I don't like there are more people that like it and these are guys who are doing vids as their actual job.
I've started noticing that the content creators who's YouTube revenue isn't their entire income stream typically can afford to put out quality over quantity

At no point did I ever feel he was trying to imply he was better on guitar than he is.

BUT
he is a pompous arrogant dick and it comes across in almost every video.
watch a few live videos and it's so evident as he interacts with commentators and or dick sucks fanboys that donate
and
his guitar playing while 'correct" has zero vibes and is totally uninspiring or memorable, and he thinks he's great.
No "dumbass" i don't want to watch you meander in G dorian and pontificate to the serfs about how to use the mode.

Compare his playing ANY real artist like paul gilbet, chris poland, kossof,.beck, aldrich, holdsworth etc ________ fill in the blank fave of yours and it's clear he blows chunks, has a shit tone, crap phrasing etc.

there are HUGE gaps in his musical knowledge
he is clueless about anything electronic from the 1940s - to present day it's all just "EDM' to him
he has no knowledge of funk/soul/bossa/reggae/ international music
his djent lesson is a bad joke
his entire foundation is classical guitar and FM rock and it's fucking lame
i don't need a another privileged "white bro "telling me how great steely dan is.

Steely Dan is like Jazz to me. I know I'm supposed to like it because people I respect think it sounds great, but dammit I just don't enjoy listening to it. Maybe my palette just isn't sophisticated enough to enjoy it? I truly appreciate amazing jazz players, but I don't enjoy it, if that makes sense.
