Remember the Peavey Ultra Plus? (Video)

Buddy let me borrow his amp. This thing is a less noisy 5150 with a clean channel!

 
I love the peavey ultra, and still want to pick another one up some day... But remember:

Ultra> ultra plus>xxx>jsx>3120>xxx 2
 
Yeah is that the timeline? I don't know anything about these amps.
 
Its the time line. Peavey loves to rename their amps. The ultra is sick, then they came our with the the ultra plus. The xxx had a little more gain to it. Then they rolled off the gain again with the jsx (my favorite amp). The 3120 is literally the same as the xxx, and the xxx2 is really the jsx. So if ever looking at a new peavey model, don't forget you could get the same exact amp and tones from the previous models.
 
Nice clip! The Ultra series was my first venture into tube land! Think I'll pick up another someday.

looked and was built like a tank, had some solid 80s tones on it, clean channel just begged for chorus so i sold it to a friend who still has it some 8 years later

I have a lead on a used Ultra Plus, this fluff video really sells it! $300 for an amp that clearly holds it's own tonewise...hmmm...I was looking at more expensive options, but this is hard to resist

I have had one for years. Only play it now and then.

I had one that was awesome back in the day, paid 150 for it and it Killed. I liked the XXX as well...

I can get that 5150 "vibe" on it for sure! Sounds killer!
By the way.....there is a Half stack on local craig list for $500 or best here... :thumbsup:
 
update: mission accomplished, amp is purchased! The price on these in the used market is insane! Regardless of price, this thing just sounds wonderful. fluff deserves a kick back for the cool video.
Though not I'm not sure how you had it on loose (?) lol, the low end shakes the house. I tend toward the tight setting
 
Glad you got it the amp dude!

I had tuned the preamp with all EH tubes. Kept the low end in check!
