Reverb Seller's Impudent Response to Not At All as Described

WOW! Important update! So I wasn't real confident with Reverb, and because they're pretty slow about things, so I filed a PayPal dispute. A couple days later, Reverb contacts me and says I need to cancel my PayPal dispute because "it can result in your funds being frozen. If this happens, it can be months until we can release these funds." So I called PayPal and they said Reverb is lying, that they do this often, and that I can rest assured that PayPal will refund me and whatever Reverb.com does will have no effect on what they do.
Groan...like you needed this attitude on top of the loss you're already experienced. I just finished a 6 month USPS dispute on six speakers shipping to Finland that Finnish customs declared as lithium batteries. JAL Cargo refused to ship them, sent them back twice and all six frames were bent by the time there were done screwing with them.

The USPS dropped the ball on the inspection report for my claim (it was done, USPS claims Prescott AZ post office never sent it, denied my claim three times). Six trips to the Prescott PO, 20 hours on the phone explaining common sense to the USPS and they finally sent me a refund in mid March. The claim was started on Sept 16th, 2022.

I did manage to fix/straighten the bent frames, but they have tooling marks on them so I'll be offering up some discounted Scumbacks with blemishes on the frame in the hear future.

Back to Reverb, how do they think this lying routine is going to make you buy through them in the future? Obviously you already found out that policy was bogus.

Idiots. I guess that's why I never use them.

Man that sucks. UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc., it's like they sap your hope of ever getting compensated for losses. If you got paid by the hour dealing with them, you could have recovered a lot of your money by now!

The reason I filed a PayPal dispute is because Reverb sent me a couple of emails saying my case would be escalated to a "team of specialists." Considering all the pictures, "brand new" description of the item, and seller's responses, it shouldn't take a whole team of specialists to figure out the seller flat out lied. I just don't trust Rever to protect me as a buyer.

You're right also about buying/selling on Reverb. My new policy is never buy or sell anything worth more than you're willing to risk losing. It's just not worth it these days.

I’ve experienced this as well. This is standard Reverb practice, apparently, threatening loss of funds unless you cancel the PayPal dispute. Don’t do it, of course.

Had an issue with a lost guitar on Reverb. They shuffled their feet for weeks, doing nothing, so I finally filed a PayPal dispute. Shit got fixed REAL quick. Reverb also came out of nowhere with tons of emails to me about now what they were doing to fix the problem, even saying at the end. “congratulations! We’ve processed your refund.“ No they didn’t. PayPal first processed my refund and kicked them in the dick, forcing them to get off their asses. All Reverb’s corrective actions were because of the PayPal dispute.

I had posted about it on TGP and half a dozen apologist jackasses came out of the woodwork to defend Reverb. What a shithole that place is.

Sorry for the rant.

Sounds like an Axe Palace transaction. ?

Go straight to PayPal and escalate to a claim. That'll light a fire under Reverb's ass, otherwise you'll be playing the email, 2 days to answer, response, 2 days to answer, and circle jerk.

I've found Reverb to move pretty swift when the claim is actually on them, since they're technically the seller. That's the only way they'll aggressively get involved.

I hate dicks like this. Grossly delusional, and a fuck you attitude after knowingly lying about it's condition.
I had a builder send me a custom guitar with issues including a twisted neck and then he tried to charge me for shipping both ways and charge me a restock fee, etc. Some people just suck!!

Man, isn't it such a sad state of affairs when PayPal turns out to be the hero? Yeah, TGP will stay butthurt for 20 years I'd you dare contradict their sensibilities.

You could not be more correct on both points.

I mentioned this before but a Rigtalk selling site “classified on steroids” with an escrow account for transactions, nominal fee to keep the account open, etc, feedback from members. Shipping guidelines. Most folks here know each other one way or another given time. The trolls usually show themselves fairly quickly. Idk. And the money stays away from sites that “monitor” transactions. Pie in the sky. I know. This is why I almost sell nothing. I’m just a happy hoarder. When I do decide to sell; it will be here. Fuck selling sites.

The monitoring transactions part is the law, so there's no way around that or the taxes for a 3rd party transaction site. Just wait until they try to find a way to enforce it on forums, and all the classified sections disappear.

EDIT: Not trying to be shitty, I wish it was possible and it just annoys me that it's not haha

I've found PayPal to always be fair. It's the shitty people that exploit the.platform
