I tried the 10th anniversary at namm and owned a standard one in 2022, and the 10th anniversary exactly sounded how I remembered the original sounding. Mind you there were 14 months or so between trying the two, but 10th anniversary sounded as lifeless and sterile in the same way I remember the original being.Anyone else try the 10th anniversary who has also owned the standard version?
definitely try one out before deciding is the best bet. Before I played one, my thought was it would suck but I was pleasantly surprised how great it sounded at low volumes. If I was playing live, I would use my Mezzabarba but for home recording either the Revv or an amp modeler is the way to go.I had worked out a deal to trade for one of the Mk 3 Generator 120s a year and a half ago, but the guy backed out at the last possible second. Still would love to try one, but it seems like for every good review there's like 10 bad ones to along with it. Every recording I've heard of them, I thought sounded pretty cool, but they tend to all be very processed sounding, so I'm not sure if I'm hearing the sound of the actual amp or just the mix.
"Lifeless" is a word I often hear these described as, but the amps they're often compared to, I would also consider lifeless... So I'm not sure what to believe. FWIW, the Rev models are my favorite in my Helix, so I don't even know anymore
I’m not disagreeing with your methods for yourself but if I was in a recording studio I only want a microphone on my amp to do the job . So for a lot of us this would be backwards . Not knocking you . Just saying. At home I it’s the same.unless demos I use captor for shits and giggles . Or axe efx . But not on a real recording .not sure what amp version of the Revv you guys played but the one I tried out sounded crushing and massive with clear articulation of notes under very high gain purple and red channels. Plus great studio recording features are better than most tube amps except for perhaps the Diezel VHX. I mean get an EVH 5150 if you play live and don't give a shit about recording in a studio.

I honestly have not cared about these features whej it comes to buying a headWho cares what recording "Features" it has if it has a tone that sucks
That demo sounds like one of the higher end software plug ins if i'm being real here
Hopefully IRL it sounds more impressive

understand but for me using a miked amp is a royal PITA with cables and shit all over the place and for convenience and recording at home, the cab features with tube goodness of the Revv are very attractive. But I get it- folks want different taste. That is why the large variety of amps is so wonderful. For me, I probably will save the cash on another tube amp and get a Fractal or Kemper and send direct to my DAW for easier song recording with my synths.I’m not disagreeing with your methods for yourself but if I was in a recording studio I only want a microphone on my amp to do the job . price is the real issue as 3k for the Revv Generator amp is quite steepWho cares what recording "Features" it has if it has a tone that sucks
