*Update* RIP Gibson LPC

Update:

When I first contacted customer service they indicated they wanted to do the right thing and also their management didn’t like people having poor experiences. They would check with management about what they could do for me (either discount this guitar or perhaps a discount on another mod shop. It’s an expensive guitar and I own a lot of gibsons so I appreciated the consideration.

Gibson has offered to refund me or…5% off another guitar that’s 2,000 more than the one I purchased. I explained that paying significantly more for my second choice guitar isn’t a great alternative. I would’ve expected more. While I realize I’m not entitled to any discount at all, it’s just such a low number that it comes across poorly after it seemed like they would do more. Disappointing experience and response from Gibson.

I can’t recall the last time I heard anything good about Gibsons customer service.

For the prices they command, they should make a little effort to take care of their customers.

What an insulting offer. Especially since you indicated that you were still interested in sticking with them...perhaps with an even more expensive guitar. Really bad look.

I mean clearly take the refund.

IMO use the refund to repair it with a good luthier. It obviously won’t look new and affect value but you got a refund so who cares?
Right, what was offered was either 5% off a more expensive guitar or refund. Although they originally said they would offer a discount on the wrecked guitar they did not end up doing that. So just a refund.

I had a friend that used to work at a UPS sorting facility for almost 20 years. He said about 90% of the guitars that came in there were literally thrown as far as they could onto the conveyor belts while unloading as the dudes were laughing about it. No fucks given at all. The boxes all had caution and guitar stickers on them so the employees knew it was somewhat delicate but thought it was funny. Since my friend played guitar he said seeing this used to get under his skin so much.
UPS has been the best for me. 100’s of guitars and USPS is the only ones to fuck one up.

fwiw the last few LPCs I've played have been very consistent. So if you loved the way this one played, should be able to find another you like easily. Wont look the same, tho.

I don’t think keeping the guitar is part of their refund offer.

Unless I misunderstood something?
